Hardened Veteran Guardsman

CNY

Last night, my friend Todd and I decided to take the Clash of Heroes mission out for a spin. He's begun an ork army, while I play Imperial Guard; we played a 500 point game with Ghazkull and Yarrick squaring off.

I'll spare you the gory details; at the end of turn three, all my guardsmen were dead, and Yarrick was working for money on his back. He gets back up, charges into Ghazkull's squad. Ghazkull's boyz can't take away his last wound, and Ghazkull topples Yarrick, but not before suffering his third wound. Yarrick gets back up on the IG turn, barrels in, and takes the warboss' final wound, but not before getting knocked over. At the end of turn five, the game doesn't end, and defiant Yarrick pops back to his feet.

Now, this is why I believe we did this correctly, but I'm bringing to the community to see what they think:

1.) There's no IG FAQ stating that when Yarrick's squad gets rolled over, that Yarrick disappears.
2.) There's nowhere in the Battle Missions book that I could find that indicates that there is a wipeout rule in place for Clash of Heroes.

Therefore, Yarrick will hang around to get back up, and because only Ghazkull can kill him (per the rules of the mission), they will fight until one of them dies (if your hero is slain, the game ends, but because Yarrick isn't a casualty until you roll a 1 or 2, he's still in it to win it).

This also makes Yarrick nearly a win button at 185 points. Thoughts?

Pretty much. Necron lord with rez orb and warscythe is pretty ridiculous too because of all the standing back up.

Battle missions is basically mini apoc. Planetstrike is Midi Apoc and Apoc is Maxi Apoc. Best thing to do is discuss it before the game.

as far as I know the only way to deny yarrik his chance to get back up is if he was part of a squad that breaks and gets swept, then he is removed from the game with no chance to get back up.

Still Yarrick needs to kill his opponent, and since there is no draw, so if yarrick gets smashed down every turn the victory conditions
favor the 'killier' hero when time runs out.
