Subject: Tankbusta Questions

Hey guys,
Just a couple of quick question regarding Tankbusta's and thier use. Now I'm aware that they will always shoot/assault at the nearest tank within LoS, but I assume that doesn't mean I lose control of the unit as it states nothing RE: Movement.
Anyway, a couple of questions about transports and thier use.
• As a battlewagon isn't a dedicated transport choice, If i choose to load them into one at the start of the game do they have to start outside the wagon and hop in the first turn or can they start in the wagon? I scoured the rulebook and unless I'm blind it doesn't state one way or the other. It usually wouldn't matter but I've had two instances now where my mate stole the initiative and proceeded to drop stern guard w/kombi-flamers right in front of them.
• Secondly, I'm sure the tankbusta will have to shoot at other vehicles in LoS but do they have to attempt to assault from a Vehicle if possible? Whats the logistics regarding that as If the rules were to be followed Word for Word they would most likely have to disembark every turn to attempt a assault.
• Also, If i unload the tankbustas in such a fashion that blocks LoS to vehicles from thier battlewagon, would that constitute as letting me choose my target as stated in the Codex (even though it seems fairly cheese and I probably won't use this tatic anyway).
Sorry bout the questions but the idea of having 15 rokkits in a open topped battlewagon crusing around blowing up Tanks and Termies alike really appeals to me (as my lootas have been more than hopeless these last few games).
Thanks in advance,
Pixx

You may start a unit in a transport bought separately- the only restrictions come with dedicated transports, which may only start with the unit they were bought for embarked.
You maintain full control of the unit in movement, so you don't have to disembark them. If they're still embarked, they can't charge.
And, yes, that is EXACTLY how you make tankbustas relatively useful-- blocking off their LOS so you can choose your targets is how you should play- not cheesy at all.
Won't be too helpful against termies, but still pretty useful.

Yes, you can move them in any direction you like.
1) They can start in the vehicle as long as it isnt dedicated. BW *can* be dedicated when Nobz take them
2) Irrelevant - you cannot disembark from a vehicle in the Assault phase.
3) If they cannot draw LOS to *any* enemy vehicle then they can shoot whoever they like.

What if they are embarked in the battlewagon? Do they have to fire at the nearest vehicle or can they choose their target?
Im building up an ork army now that i havent used yet so this could be useful as I LOVED tankbustz in DOW and really want to use them on the table...being a necron player im not too familiar with how embarked troops interact w vehicles!

They have to fire at the closest enemy vehicle in LOS if they are embarked or disembarked. This does not mean that the BW has to fire at the same unit (remember, vehicles and their passengers are different units).

Important note; Tankbustas do NOT have to shoot at the closest enemy vehicle; just A vehicle, any vehicle. This can be used to, for instance, release 3 bomb-squigs at the nearest vehicle while shooting at a different one, hopefully wrecking two vehicles in a single turn!
However, if Tankbustas are embarked in a vehicle the LOS problems actually become worse, as they can draw LOS from any point on the hull of the vehicle. Since a BW is basically the biggest vehicle in the Ork Codex, blocking LOS becomes problematic unless you have multiple BWs.
