The wording in the markerlight section includes a sentence as follows :-
To impose a -1 penalty on any cover saves the marked unit may have from the effects of the firing unit's shooting.
The emphasis is on the phrase - THE FIRING UNIT 's shooting, not ALL FIRING UNIT S ' shooting.
From the above, my interpretation is that the cover save penalty benefits only ONE unit, say unit A of Crisis Suits? So for example I expend 2 counters, a 4+ cover save becomes 6+ cover save, but ONLY from the shots of unit A?
If I want my unit B Crisis Suits (shooting at the same target of course) to enjoy the cover save penalty, I need to expend more markerlight counters?

Yes. The penalty only effects one unit.

Correct when a unit fires it eats the marker lights (if you choose to use them).
Tagged with marker lights
Unit A fires and eats 2 marker lights for Cover save
Unit B fires and will need to eat another 2 marker lights if it wishes to gain the same benefit.
Best way is to pepper the target with marker lights and just drop a sub-munition hammerhead on it ;D

Yes, it effects only the one firing unit's shooting.
That was easy. It's stated pretty clearly in the codex. I'm glad it's a question about marker lights and not target locks.

No it benefits all units firing at the target......................nah I'm kidding

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake. |
