So having finished my IG army I'm switching gears to make a Salamanders battle company. Not all at once but y'know. I've read up on their fluff and figured a schedule to get this going. I hit the hmm moment when it came to the vehicles. I've mostly settled on half 'n half DPs and rhinos but the heavy support has snagged me.

I ask you, the wise and ignoble masses of the interweb, how 'bout them tanks? Would the Sals work flexible and have 2 predators escort a vindicator? Would they push through with a wall of vindicators? I'm not so interested in what unit beats what in a game moreso as doing this as a hobby.

Thanks

Sallies like the hammer and anvil theme, so forcing a path could be fluffy

It seems there is no shortage on vehicles, so feel free to include what you like.

The Salamanders tend to know how to keep their gear running ( have on of the oldest ,still operational! , rhinos ) so any mix
of HS choices should be fluff-compatible.

They may take a slow but steady approach to most challenges, thus charging head on would be out of place IMO.
Doesn't stop them from taking down the enemy, just preserves their own strength and in the end pays off really well
when the war is won, instead of lost and going down in a blaze of glory....

Maybe choose the Tanks by their role.
Land Raiders, vindicator and predators seem to be the common ones, the "rare" artillery can be used too but Sallies tend to have
crowd-control already so either Transport or fire-support as role.

Vindicator and predators should be fine if you don't want one of the LR variants.

Target locked,ready to fire

Well, the WHOLE thing would include 2 LR with termies from the 1st company. A Crusader with 6 shooters and assault cannon and a Redeemer with TH/SS with a term chaplain. The captain Doc'tyr with CS in a razor and also 2 dreads. An Ironclad for sure but then I'm pondering a vanilla or ven dread...oh fluff why do you hate my wallet so.
Also I was playing around with some (7th?) scouts with a LS storm(s) or something like that. Y'know so if I get a game itch I can pull out something besides tac and dev squads

Having just read the Lexicanum entry for the 'Manders I could see going either way.

As 1hadhq said earlier the vindicators fit well with the whole hammer/anvil imagery.

But! It also says that the Salamanders gained a good bit of renown during 2nd Armageddon for being the only chapter willing to defend supply lines and civilian convoys. A role that seems much better suited to the predator.

So yeah... I guess I could see going either way.

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.

IIRC Salamander does not have many land speeder and bikers...

make sure you have a lot of flamer and melta, and some hammers.
