maybe this rule would make the terminators way too hard a foe to face (other armies would have to have similar abilites)
Terminators can Deep Strike into the game. Why shouldn't they be able to Deep Strike out of it? or across the board.
Imagine it. A Terminator squad finishes its objective on one side of the board where there are no enemies.
Imagine the other guy's face as your squad appears in the middle of his lines all the way over the other side.
Now imagine chaos daemons able to appear among imperial lines.
Or Eldar appearing behind your lines at a whim.
Suddenly the whole board is alive with fighting. not just single parts of it.

Why? Because the Terminators don't have teleporters - they have tracking systems which allow the very old and very rare teleporter systems onboard massive battleships to transport them into the surface of a planet or into a ship.
The rituals required to prepare and successfully carry out a teleport transfer are very complex and it's almost impossible for it to be done in the time-frame of a single game (usually stated to be a few minutes at most).
Now, game-wise, it'd be very powerful. Just look at the Necron Lord and his ability to jump around the map - imagine that with heavy weapons and powerfists. Ouch...

Take heart! For the warp spiders have you covered! 3d6 jump in the assault phase. Just play Eldar and you'll be all good.

It'd make them broken IMO. Warp spiders don't have 2+/5++ & power weapons standard so it's ok with them.

Dorian, CrazyThang wasn't suggesting that we rip the Warp Spiders' move and stamp it onto the Terminators. Have a read again.
All he was doing was pointing out that there is a unit in the game which does have the teleport ability - and explaining how it works.

Actually... I was telling you to play Eldar But in all reality maybe someday in some far off future edition when Necrons get a 'dex and there is one big happy inquisition codex maybe just maybe will terminators get some form of jump other than deepstrike. Sadly we will probably be dead by then due to the natuer of time and the ages...

"Yes, I don't buy into the goody goody image the Tau PR machine has churned out . They're all dirty cold-blooded space-communists if you ask me! Besides, their shiny, selfless "we love everyone for the Greater Good" vibe is so unfitting for the "lulz we're all badass jerks" future of 40k. GW needs to play up their cold, calculating, "join us or die, and probably still die anyway" Borg-y style. That's just me of course."

Er no. That's incorrect. Terminator armour, does in fact, have a personal teleportation system built in. It takes a bit to build up a charge, has a very limited range and isn't a very precise piece of kit(especially when compared to the Warp Spiders or Monolith teleportation device), hence why it's not used on the tabletop. The teleport systems on board of the Strike Cruisers and Battlebarges are a completely different breed of teleporter than the Terminator pieces.
Simply put: The "tracking systems" you're referring to is the specific frequency given off by the PTs that Terminators have, alongside of beacons that give off a specific frequency for the teleporters to lock onto. The Techmarines on board of the orbiting vessels then use those beacons to provide the actual teleport support. But again, it's something that needs precision to function and requires a vast amount of power and needs to build up a charge.

No. It takes hours for them to prepare the teleport equipment. You don't have to "prepare" the site you're teleporting to, outside of bombing the hell out of it from orbit to ensure hazards are out of the area you want to hit.

no what you said was fine, it was just misconstrued in a very strange way...
either way i have to agree with the first post, DOW said terminators teleport all over the place, it also said you can land drop pods on the enemy and a nob is an appropriate boss fight. Everyone has to reach the realization that video games, books and miniature games are all very different things and when you try to mix the fast paced action of a video game or the insane power of a fluff marine into a supposively balanced game, you end up with a bad suggestion for new rules

books really overpower space marines into titan killers. The computer games have to give you a feel of slight invincibility so you don't feel like running to mummy at the sight of a carnifex...
and the boardgame is ruled by the dice. and all dice are creations of satan.
sorry got trounced in my second board game ever. Gonna take terminators every time from now on.

You would have to pay a bit of points for somesort of additional teleporting wargear that gets paid per model...And maybe have them set a turn in reserve after they teleport of the table. I like the concept...its just difficult to balance.

Assuming that we go through with the concept because I kind of like it, one way I can think of bringing it closer to balance is having the teleporter system as an upgrade on board a drop-pod so that at the very least the Termies have to make it back there and the drop pod has to remain in one piece.
This would also make it of very limited use game wise.
Example of limited use:
- Turn 1: Plays out.
- Turn 2: Terminators land from reserves (maybe)
- Turn 3,4: Spent completing objective on 1st half of map
- Turn 5: If they are close enough they make it back to the drop pod and embark on it. Maybe they even teleport back to it?
- Turn 6: They roll to see if they come back into play as per another deep strike move.
- Turn 7: How many games really last this long?
Yes, Terminators have built in personal teleporter systems, fluffwise it fits. You would need a power plant from a large space ship, or as my input suggests a capacitor aboard a drop pod that was precharged on the space ship prior to launch. You would also need an entire crew of tech priests to calculate the jump or a cog-based-computer too large to fit on a battle field. These things can reside on the ship in orbit that the Terminators launched from.

Whoooaaaaa!! What about Gate of Infinity!! Terminator Librarians are AWESOME!!
With Gate of Infinity you can re-deep strike your squad of termies and shoot away every turn if you want to. Plus you can deepstrike the librarian with them on the first deepstrike because he's in Terminator armor too.
I have done this and it is great great fun!!

...... I love librarians.
Although I'm getting the new Blood Angels codex and I don't know if I can do this; I love to have a Martyr Librarian.
Give him Terminator armor so that he is relentless and a storm shield so he doesn't die
teleport him around the battlefield using the Gate of Infinity.
Then use the thing that throws the warp, he can still use it even though it's heavy because he has the librarian armor.
it works great, especially in small games. a STR 10 AP 1 template in the middle of an enemy army is great, also it has a scare factor to it and people will waste their fire on the librarian.
