Because you wrote it as a god-emote, and I countered by declaring it void. Even in the simplest forms of RP there are some simple rules to follow; god-emotes (forcefully causing someone else into a situation/state without permition, such as shooting someone), rather than writing 'Korvax shoots Riffzor in his legs' you'd write 'Korvax attempts to shoot Riffzor in his legs' or 'Korvax aims for Riffzors legs as he fires his bolt pistol'. Furthermore there's one we've already mentioned, meta-gaming, looking at my avatar and signature and attacking my character in this topic as I in RL is more drawn to Dark Eldar and Chaos (meta gaming = using information gained through OOC means)

And then there's power-emoting, which is to act outside the limits of your character (If you're an Eldar you may be quick and agile, but you can't lift up a rhino and throw it onto the side)

Then there's the common decency of adapting your language and to some extent your character to the surroundings, if you RP in a place where there are children, you wouldn't swear, describe sexual actions, go into too deep detail of torture or death, and so on.

Then generally it's frowned upon to go against the history/lore of the platform in which you roleplay, in this case Warhammer 40K (for example you can't be an orkish space marine or a Necron Etheral of the Tau)

And then there's something which I can't remember what it's called, but basically you don't claim to be the Emperor's brother or a chaos god (sort of a border-line between sticking to what makes sense in history as well as power-gaming)

Probably missed a bunch, but yeah, those 'rules' varies from place to place but generally are the same and are there for the comfort of all participants. Whilst it may be fun for you, Valance and Forden to accuse me of heresy (something I brought onto myself and I'm totally fine with) and to shoot at me (which I'm less amused by) and choose to do so without any indications of respect for me (by god-emoting it), it makes it less fun for me to be part of it at all, and as such, I declared your god-emote void.

This is really not an RP. This is just a very complicated conversation about the life of a marine company.

I agree with the 'rules' Riffzor has pointed out for roleplay; they seem very fair and reasonable to me, as someone who doesn't RP.

Ultimately however, AFAIK this isn't supposed to be a role-playing thread, although it appears it may have 'degenerated' into one...

Well, no. It's not an RP thread but even with the 'light' 'accidental' RP we've been up to here it's better to stick to some guidelines so that all people that are part of it enjoy it rather than not, which would end up with arguments and then flaming.

Well, it's up to the OP wether there should be RP or not, if you don't like the 'rules' (which seemingly are OP approved already) then you don't have to participate in that. There are apparently people who enjoy it, you guys included as you've participated in it so far.
