How do you take/contest objectives as IG. I have found this to be an issue on Capture and Control vs assault armies especially. Moving up in chimeras doesn't seem to work well since they can place the objective about 36" away from my deployment. Its not too hard to at least stun a chimera when it has to go through the enemy to contest. Outflanking valks? would you use an astropath?

For me, at least, I've found that opponents don't usually place them too far back - most objectives are placed within 12 of the centerline. It may be different for you, of course.

I've found that sending a wave of chimeras, sometimes hugging cover, can distract the enemy enough to let at least one through to try to contest their objective.

I have not found outflanking vendettas/Valkyries to be reliable in claiming objectives. I mean, it's good if the aim is to get side shots on vehicles or enemy outflankers, but for the purposes of keeping or contesting objectives, it might be better to start them out on the board and scout them.

If all else fails, you do not always have to claim and objective, but merely contest it. Marbo is excellent for this, as is an allied Callidus.

With access to Fast Skimmers in the Valk/Vendettas to contest objectives late game or loads of ordinance weapons that can blow to pieces any troops holding it you are better off than most. I would use your chimera's to contest the middle ground or castle them up but it really depends on your list.

Ignore the objectives; table your opponent.

Here's your problem: you're not deploying right. No change of your list is going to help you if your opponent can always play a 36" keep-a-way with his objective.

One of the things I've used in the past is the fact that even a single infantry model can now take/contest an objective. This means that if a squad is wiped down to 1 dude, and that dude doesn't break and run (regimental standard FTW), your opponent is left with the option of wasting yet another precious turn of fire just to kill a single guardsman, or having that 1 guardsman be the one to hoist the flag over the objective. If you send a whole platoon at an objective, it's going to be difficult for you opponent to stamp out all of these little shattered remnants in time.
