Subject: Buying Transports for Tactical Marines

In the marine codex it says that you can buy a rhino or razorback for your squad. It then says that if the models number 10 then you can buy a drop pod.
Does this mean that you can buy a 10man squad of Space Marine Tactical Marines and a Razorback. Obviously if yes then the squad cannot start inside the tank unless you use combat squads.
I took it as being "yes" because it didn't place any limitation of troop count other than for the droppod which was even in a new sentance, but my opponent disagree's, whats your say?
Many thanks

Yes, you may buy a Razorback even if the squad can't fit in it. Older codexes usually limit transports to those you can fit in, like SoB can take Immolators only if they're six or less.
Nothing requires you to actually use the transport anyway...

Must admit thats how I did it in this game, used a razorback with 10 marines which spent the whole game running along side the tank as it blastes away with HBolters.
But as my opponent questioned it, I just wanted to get opinions to clarify.

Your opponent is thinking of the old editions codexes, which DO have a rule saying you cannot buy a Transport for a unit that cannot fit in it. However, that restriction has not been present in any 5th edition codex, and is being phased out I would imagine. Just keep in mind that some transport options still have a restriction on who can take them (Such as Drop Pods only for 10 man Tacticals)

You are correct that squad size no longer stops you from taking Razorbacks. Codex Space Marines can also take advantage of the Combat Squad special rule to put half the squad inside if they are so inclined.
