So right now i play chaos space marines. I am thinking about starting another 40k army. The thing I like about chaos is the versatility. Other than CSM and SM what are some similar armies? I was thinking about orks, but Im thinking they could be a little too one sided. Is it possible to balance this out. I was also thinking a bit about tau. But i fear the same problem, again can this be countered? What armies would you recommend? Thanks for the help! Rod

I don't play the Orks or Tau (though my brother does play Tau) but I know that the orks have a lot of competative lists you could run. the Tau though lack much close combat, so the best way to play them seems to be with a lot of battle suits, they aren't very versaitile.

Forgive my spelling, but I am very tired.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Orks are very competitive and very fun to play. Another thing that makes them nice is they are cheap to startdue to the AoBR orks. Mine only cost me about $300 for 2500 pts.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

Grey knights 3000

Battlesuits are the most versatile unit in the game...

Ork isnt one side.
They have a shoooty and so many random things.

If you like Chaos, you can play and model them as Chaos Ork. There is 1 picture of Nurgle Ork in Daemonhunter codex and which looks really cool.

You cou get some IG stuff and Warp it up to augment your CSMs. That way you can have a whole load of tanks and a meat shield of crupted IG troopers.
Just think a Bainblade given over to the dark powers, oh what fun you could have converting it to your God

Tau are not that one-sided. They have great firepower, but also great mobility. The flaw people often point out is CC however they do have CC. Kroot are on par with orks in both CC and points, giving the ability to do both.

Sorry, but I've played with Tau, I've played against Tau, and I've watched Tau. not once have they won CC against Orks, CSM, SM, nids, or SW. Every game I've won or watched win with them has been with their amazing shotting.

And to OP I know the appeal of have a force that can do everything well, but for a second force shouldn't you choose something vastly different? Switch from generalize to specialize? The reason I was thinking of a second force is because I wanted an army that had to be played completely different then my wolves.

My brother plays orks so I play them a lot, and when my squad of 20 kroot charges his squad of 20 boys I win every time. They have almost exactly the same stats (the kroot and boys) with the kroot having a higher initiative. Not sure what games you've seen or how the kroot were played, but charging kroot will win in CC vs. Orks.
