Hello there, first post,

I checked the section on making your own battle wagons. It's implied that you you just the tracks from other kits, but has anyone actully made there own tracks? Not like the land raider but more like the exsisting tracks that are available for Ork stuff. I know your thinking, why not just use some tracks off a war buggy or something similar, but after seeing so much awesome stuff on this site, I thought one of your mad modellers would have had a go.

Cheers,

The difficulty with home-made track links is getting them to all look the same (or at least look mechanically compatible with each other, they do need to link up after all) - most of the better ones I've seen have been resin castings, i.e. make one then recast it many times, fairly easy to do even for an amateur caster.

Then again, arguably orks sometimes really do have a bunch of grots hand-making track links, which all look slightly different but are still mechanically compatible. Something made of plastruct girders, each differently bolted/welded together perhaps?

a lot of work though. The lazy way is to buy 1/35 scale tank tracks from your local model shop - WW2 ones in paeticular are fairly common. But they usually don't look very orky...

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

you can find a strip of plastic card, cut it into sections and then punch a hole in the middle of each for the spoke to pull the track along. It should look near the same as the GW Battlewagon tracks.

Spokane, WAAAAAGH!

I made my Skul hamma tracks out of Corplas (i dont know if thats the actual name of the material) but its the plastic cardboard that signs are made out of. For political campaigns and any outdoor signs I guess. Damn if I only had a pic...

You can buy tank tracks for a number of historical kits. It would be a lot easier to use those than make an entire set yourself.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah I'd just go buy some of that 1/35 rubber tank track and stretch that over your wheels.
