Hello, people of Earth! I have recently started a Chaos Marine/Daemon crossover army after getting bored with Ultramarines ( Too blue ) I have based them on Khorne , with the exception of my Thousand Sons and Lord of Change . I am getting a Bloodthirster soon, and was wondering if I was to enter an official tournament or something official, would I be allowed to field Bloodthirster as a HQ?? The guys down at the local shop don't mind but I was just wondering. Thanks alot!

No not as a blood thirster. As a generic greater daemon yes but not a bloodthirster.

It's like I'm reading a pop up book with your block of text. Also I thought the Bloodthirster was a greater Daemon? Could of sworn under the greater daemon choices for HQ's Bloodthirster was there?

No, you cannot mix codices for anything official, sadly.

GW should have left the Chaos Codex as it was, but I'll stop and let HMBC inevitably explain why they should have.

Using the 4th ed chaos codex you cannot have a Blood Thirster as an HQ.

What you can do is have a summoned greater daemon in there, who has very "meh" stats (mainly in that he doesnt have wings, and is therefore too slow to be of much use) and doesnt represent any particular GD. OR yo ucould do what I do and use him as a Daemon Prince of Khorne with Wings. The least effective Daemon Prince by far, but cheap and cheerful if you want a fluffy army.
