I was wondring over the years in youre gaming experience , what friends have you made and or lost . Crazy people you have met. Amazing painters or generals. Guys you just though you needed to hit over the head wit ha rule book. Friends you have " persuaded" into the hobby or children , realatives.
Mainly my friend Liam , has been the one sucessful person I have kidnapped and taken into a stores, only for him to go wow. Yes I have made so many friends over the years get into the hobby only to grow up :/ . The craziest person I would say I have met was at the workshop I used to go to alot , there was certain staff member who was really crazy. All my friends and family would agree, he was really enthusiastic and had th vocie to match it .

Also who would you say you are in youre group of friends , the painter, gamer, psycotic conversion guy ? .Or whatever fun title you can think of .

Id say im the guy that games with the record amount of grey plastic im terrible at getting stuff painted I have way too much committments and its going to get worse from September.

As I have college,part time work (Which im hoping to get at GW) and my Paranormal group.

Probably the same for me , I start college soon and I have my Gcse coming up , so time has to be spent revising . It may be the other way around painted but no games .

At my FLGS, i am the only necron player, though my reputation is quite deadly..(game wise of course...). But ive made quite a few friends in a time span of say one year.

I would say personally ,I am the painter when I started palying 40k at beginners day people always commented on my marines lol.

I would say I'm probably the fluff guy, able to create a backstory for an army on the spot. I'm also the only Dark Angels players.

All of my closest friends are people that I met through the wargames society at uni (10+ years ago).

All of are still gaming!

I'm the lazy ass painter who never really gets anything done, but can do a somewhat impressive job when he really tries.

I have standards that are too high and a work ethic way too low to achieve them.

I am one of the 4 that WILL NOT field an unpainted model.

If I hadn't met my friends gaming, it would have been at SF cons (we're all SF geeks too).

My two closest friends I met at one games club. They don't game much anymore, due to the presence of offspring. They are still SF geeks though.

I would say that I'm the painter in the group. I usually don't have as much time to game so that's how I get my hobby fix.

In regards to the other guys in our local group that are also Dakkaites:
*Rocklord2004 (Mr. Personality): He's always got the crazy/good ideas about conversions or stuff going on in the game. Is great to game with.
*mobirds4all (the Gamer/Mr. Trader): Plays a lot and has a huge collection. Wheels and deals all over the place.
*darkrider10 (the noob): Youngest of the group and least experienced, but has a big heart and wants to have a good time.

I've been at the GW thing since i was 15 years old, going for 16 years strong, with a 4-5 year break for college. In the last 3 years i've linked up with a gaming group, which merged with another group based out of a local gaming shop. I feel I really lucked out, as the merger created a larger span of people heading to local and regional events.

I have essentially 2 groups of friends. Gamers and non-gamers. My non-gamer friends are guys who think the hobby is awesome, are supportive, but they are more video gamers. The gamers are mostly GW guys, with a few that dabble in other games.

Within the club- SBF. I think I fall into the "Converter" title. My painting is not as good as some of the guys in the club. I'm probably a better than average painter, while we have a couple guys who are excellent painters. My armies tend to be those that lean towards customizations: Skaven/ Demon's/Dwarves, formerly 40K Orks. I'm also drawn to the idea of building monstrousities and challenging myself. I'm known in the group as a fast painter, being able to crank and army out in usually 3-4 months to GT level 2250. In the last year i've painted both Demon's and redux on my Skaven. With the Summer and Fall dedicated to High Elves.

Most of the guys i've met at GT's i'd consider growing to be friends. There are a few I have more contact with, that I really feel blessed to get to know. I think part of it is my personality has settled. I'm less concerned with winning, and more thankful to have time to game. I'm competitive, but try to always tame my list a bit. I like tactical challenges. But I like gaming against guys who want to win, who want to challenge me, and like to take risks. I've shyed away from gaming at GW stores to avoid playing kids-teenagers. But more and more I think its time I go back, and focus less on tournament gaming and more on painting.

There is a guy I played in a RT a long way back. He was a pompous ass the entire game. He beat me since I was relatively very new to the game.

I have since met him a couple of other times in tournaments and still a pompous ass. And now he is just full of excuses when I table him in the same pompous nasally voice.

i was at Games day last year queing up to get into the black libraby section .There was this guy in front of me who was extremely annoying . First off my firend was next to me and this guy said get to the back , I corrected him and said he is with me . Then the guy starting talking to random people and generally moaning about how he had to be responsible for the children on the coach and refering to them as little beeps .
I had just wanted to get one of those bullet necklases , so I was like it be so much eaiser if I could just give the guy and the merchandice counter the money and go. So that annoy guy goes you have to say in line wait your line and pay. So by this point I almost scream I have been games day 3 tiems before I know what to do grrrrr. ><

I hate people in general, so its a major victory on my part that I have come to attach myself to a group of players at my FLGS.

Over the last year Iv been able to pull 3 of my close friends into the hobby as well, which is always nice.

Would anyone who is generally annoying put you off the hobby ?

Yeah I guess so , its liek anything else you have to get on with it . Was particulary annoyed with this kid who just started with plague marines I found out he has been hding the plague marine box sets. one of his firends told me where they are after a week of looking for them . muahahahaahahahah

I was also the only Eldar player until recently and know WAY too much fluff for my own good. (Let's just say that I will have a name and a backstory for all my marines by the time I'm done with 'em.)

Whats so crazy about having pink orks ride little ponies and gluing my little ponies with radioactive warning lables painted on them to the bottom of Deff Coptas to use as bigomms. This seems perfectly sane and hilarious to me.

Scary guy at a flgs, who I hope to never see again....

Friend, who I successfully introduced to the hobby last week, and whose little brother is quite interested too...

Do staff scare anyone ? . I genrally dont mind if they are a little mad. The shop in my town is just one of those new one man stores. The guys pretty awesome there, he doesnt fuss over things and just lets you get to it without a millon and one questions.

In my D&D group we have a heavily autistic epileptic super christian. If you interupt him he starts sucking in air and throwing up his arms, and if you make a sexually charged comment or action he gets really pissed. We have a gay couple in the group and they hugged/kissed lightly and the kid picked up a chair and went to throw it at them... He also can't separate the game from real life and likes to act out his actions / randomely yell FIREBALL!!! and throw some small object at someone.

i paint to much, and play 1-2 times a week. over the last 4 years ive painted more hours in any given week then ive slept. im also a fulltime college student, have a part time job and a family.

nothing i play is unpainted. i get more psyched when i play against painted armies, but i wont knock ya for not painting.

im a casual gamer with a finger on the competative pulse.

I am that one guy, that did that one thing, one time.

Jk, Im the only good ork player who has all 100 something models painted. Older people think I am not a good player, but I put up a good fight and not to be taken lightly. Crushed a few hobbies.

Well I do like painted miniatures .Takes me awhile coz I always have some crazy paint scheme . I like the bases looking cool also.

Do people genrally ahve firends that are into sci-fi gaming things like that. Or do you have friends that you talk to more about one hobby than another ? . I have lots of friends or random people I talk to ones you would consider "normal" , others just plain weird.
