Hey, me and a friend heard awhile back that the armies from storm of chaos were no longer legal armies for tournament play. Where can we find our yes or no for the dwarf slayer army?

In every tournament pack, ever?

Usually they state that armies from suepplements in WD or from books such as Storm of Chaos are not allowed. Certianly the UK GT does not allow it (by going the route of stating, with ISBNs, every book it DOES allow) however each tournament is different - your local organiser should be able to tell you.

Slayer army was gak when it was first released anyway - against some armies wipiing it out earned you a draw. Stupid idea.

If you yahoo/google search "Slayer Army List" you'll eventually find the pdf. The army was insanely effectively. Basically if you get killed by str5 you get vp's. So you keep track of home much killed by str 5 in combat. Plus the Doom Slayers were ridiculously awesome in combat. I'd buddy them up and double team units, 2 of them could clear the combat zone of most units if there wasn't a character in there. It was a great list for one of afternoon games, but in a tournment a great way to prevent a opponent from winning the GT.

Not only that, but you got more VPs than the model costs in the first place, and if you lost less than half your unit you gave nothing up - in essence you GAINED points by dying.

Stupid list.

Haha...then there was the ridiculous Slayer lord build you could make before the new Dwarf Army Book came out.

The lord got 10 auto hitting strength five attacks, and each wound inflicted counted as two for combat resolution....

Not exactly. I believe the Slayers cost 11 points per model, and you got 10 back for dieing to an unmodified strength 5 attack. So st4 or less with Great Weapons would negate gaining any VPs back.

I meant if you satisfied the conditions for gaining VPs, as long as you kept >50% of the unit, you gained VPs for every model that died but do not lose any VPs for the unit - so you would gain overall, even if you didnt kill any opposing models.

Stupid, stupid army.

Ahh, yeah, that is correct then, and yeah, the concept of the army was super cool, and I loved it, but the execution was way way off.
