So this is my translation of the glowing runes that you often see in the art work. I used clear plastic and gave it a couple of ink coats and painted runes. Let me know what you think.

Yeah looks good. Looks like it's floating too. So yeah, same question. Oh and where did the clear plastic come from? Model scraps? or was it from something you could find in a local store?

I think it is atached to the blade, but you can't see that because of the angle...

I am not overly thrilled by it btw, but I don't really like the effect in the artwork either...

I'd say he used acetate which is material used for the old school overhead projectors our teachers used to use instead of writing on the chalk board. And with it being clear, I would say that the ring is painted and the supports connecting the ring to the blade remain clear thus giving it the illusion of a floating ring.

Its actually plastic from a blister, and its pinned with a black rod on the back of the blade. The acetate would be so much easier but less durable.
