Grim Rune Priest in the Eye of the Storm
|
I was looking at the AC-130/ Valkyrie and was thinking on the ruling on weapon facings on Vehicles.
My two Examples
1] For the longest time I used a M3 Lee tank for my SW Lemon Russ. We all just agreed that the main gun was in the hull and the Heavy Bolter was in the Turret and just went on from their. I never used it in a tournament so the “Change” was never an issue.
2] I am currently making a P-61 Black Widow into a Valkyrie and I was thinking of Strapping a Lascannon under the nose and using two of my Typhoon Launchers for the missile pods. Then making all the main guns of the P-61 [2 sets of 4 M2HB HMGs] in to the Heavy Bolters. However how the P-61 is set up without a lot on modifications they will all be facing forward.
[I am including some pictures of the P-61 for those who don’t know what one is]
Is this a problem or not with having my Sposon Weapon now being Hull Mounted

I feel that it wouldnt be a problem. You would have to be a pretty big stickler to complain about this.
Also... post pics of your Wip.

The Valks heavy bolters aren't sponson mounted - they can only fire forward since the wings are in the way. There's very little to complain about.

I do have another question.
What are the dimensions of the flight bases for Valks?

Here is the kit i am using.
I am finging out that it is a "High Detail" kit, that is a little mor complicared than I thought, I am going to have to use a lot more "Green Stuff" to make it work than i thought.

My understanding is that the HBs ARE sponson mounted. The ones on the model have about a 160 degree swing (if you don't glue them anyway) and can freely draw los under the wings. That's how I've been using it anyway.

No one kills more threads than me. Maybe I leave nothing else to say. Maybe my comments suck so hard people are left stunned. Who can say.

Here is the latest.
I got it assembled part way and a lot of the parts just weren’t working, so I am going to putty up some of the parts and just sand it down.
Once more apologies for the quality of the pictures

The Valkyrie's heavy bolters ARE sponson mounts.
It specifically says so in the codex under upgrades.
Doesn't matter if they can only fire forwards (actually given the amount of pivot on the mounts and the height of the stand, they can fire at a diagonal angle downwards at ground targets as well).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

Indeed. I highly suggest a blog in the modelling forum. I saw one of those planes up close once. They are even more wicked cool liiking in real life, kind of like taking a walk and stumbling on a tarantula walking by. Just way cool.
Remember RAW is nothing but personal interpretations, and largely irrelevant in Real Life ( TM).
