Anyone ever use one? I was thinking it may be a good idea for a chim that's carrying a PCS with 4 flamers, that way it's easier to get both the vehicle flamer and the squads' flamers onto the same target at once...

Heavy flamers are a good idea, although teachnically RaW the squad inside will never get to fire as the tip of the template will be touching the hull which is a no no,

personally I think the multi laser is better unless you plan to out flank that platoon with Al rahiem's ability. Even then I still happen to think multi laser is better.
Two reasons for this, first a chimera isnt' fast therefore if you move more than 6 inchs in can't fire any guns making it harder to position, and second you'll get more out of a mutli laser than you will a heavy flamer since it will be able to fire for a turn or two before the flamer would get into range of anything.

The only way I would run a heavy flamer turret Chimera is if the squad inside was supposed to augment its power by disembarking to rapid fire the whole squad into the target. Also that means you are more than likely putting a heavy bolter in the hull weapon slot.
The only difference I see between doing this and running the multilaser turret/ heavy flamer hull load out is that you are giving up a s6 gun to make it easier to position that flame template and utilize the full power of the squad inside.
Cheers,

It was good in Cityfight...and that's the best use I've seen it put to.

No. Just give the Hull a heavy flamer.

I have used one and it can be effective.
The problem of relying on a hull based flamer is that if I want to disembark troops after moving I often end up with the Chimera end or side on to the enemy making the hull flamer useless.
If I require to use the flamer otherwise having a Turret mounted one enable me to position the Chimera with the front facing the biggest anti-armour threat and still able to fire the flamer in any direction.

I've used it a couple of times. It was only marginally effective in the first game vs Wolves, but it kicked face against the Orks. They immobilized me and I burned them in droves as they came in to assault. It was glorious! that being said I probably won't use it very often.

I don't know, the ML is just too useful against light vehicles to give up.

i'd be hard pressed to not use the Multilaser. that said i have a really nice Ebay Chimera that came with a hull and turret Heavy flamer.
people try to kill it like it's a Hellhound. the really nice part about a turret H flamer is being able to fire it 360. the downside is losing the ML....

That's what I was thinking. So basically the conclusion is that a turret HF can be useful in certain situations for certain squads doing certain jobs, but the multilaser is just overall a more versatile weapon. Thanks guys.

A turret-mounted heavy flamer will hit the hull of the carrying vehicle.
Not sure if this is conform with the rules.
