Say I took a HB hull weapon and the HB sponsons on the Executioner.
Is it likely that I will end up with less kills on any given squad because of the way the wound allocation system works?

My gut feeling is yes, because they'll stack AP2 wounds on the same units and take saves against the AP4.

In a more general sense, would it be dumb not to take the more expensive PC sponsons?

Yes, take the tank with just a hull lascannon, so you can stay mobile and throw out a lot of AP2.

Oklahoma City, Ok.

I say go for the Gold and take the Plasma sponsons. if you're going to spend the points, might as well get them.

I just have a hard time spending 40 points extra when the tank is already so expensive.

What about the HF as a backup weapon?

I can't agree enough.

Some people think that taking the HF as hull is key to protect against wound allocation shenanigans, but I am usually moving 6" a turn and paying 40 points for just 1 extra plasma cannon and is seems worth it more often than not. Scoring one additional hit with the blast marker can be key to wiping the squad out.

My opinion: only take the executioner if you take the sponsons as well. If you are taking just the turret cannon, a LRBT w/plasma sponsons does a superior job by far (or a demolisher, with/without sponsons).

I think the 5-template, 230 point executioner is a useful terror weapon, it will annihilate any infantry and do well against monstrous creatures and lighter vehicles, but if you're going to take the most expensive, LR, go all-out.

I agree with what everybody else is saying, 5 S7 AP2 templates is sheer terror.

5 S7 AP2 templates are wonderfull and you can use them well against almost all army lists

I prefer to have the HF on the hull because the lascanon is manly for heavy vehicles which is not what I want to be shotting at with my 5 S7 AP2 templates

+1 for "go big or go home" on the Executioner.

It also loses very little relative firepower on the move with them so you'll almost never feel like they're lost when you relocate.
