Subject: Thunderfire Cannon some questions??

 |
Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

So in the codex is says "Though a Thunderfire Cannon can move under its own power" So I was just curious as I've never seen one deployed yet as none of my friends use them, do they actually move with the techmarine? But at a reduced range? Also, it says the techmarine will benefit from independent character status, and the blessing only after his cannon is destroyed, but for the cannon's stats it only shows the stats of the techmarine, which I'm assuming is targeted and killed to destroy the Thunderfire cannon.....So in what situation can the techmarine with servo harness survive where the Thunderfire does not? Is the weapon regarded as a vehicle maybe?
I'm sorry I'm a noob about this heh, I've just never seen on out yet.

The TFC is an Artillery unit. Look up Artillery in the BGB.

Thanks, I understand now. I realize how kind of weak they are considering such a low armor score...Maybe if I fielded two of them I'd get use out of one of the TFCs or at least use out of the tech marines with harness's. Probably not worth it for that many points though huh?

They can be game winners. Slowing assault troops down with subterranean blasts. Immobilising vehicles in a dangerous terrain check (1 in 6 - but it's better odds than immob'ing a land raider with a lascannon).
They can move 6" in the movement phase but may not then fire in the shooting phase if they do.
They cannot run or assault.
If the techmarine gunner is killed, the gun goes too.
If the gun is destroyed (randomised hits), then the Techmarine becomes an IC and can go run and hide and kill stuff on his own.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

He actually does not become an IC, as he never has the IC rule to begin with. The rule says that he cannot benefit from the Independent Character rule while the cannon is alive, which to me means that characters cannot join him, as that would be a benefit.

-Sigh- Not this again. This has been done to death a few times.

No, it has not. People have argued that it is worth 2 kill points, which was based on the Techmarine being an IC, and nobody brought up that he never is an IC to begin with.

Actually, they did. It was discussed in this thread.

Okay, the search only came up with the posts on kill points in the thread with a name about kill points. Of course, it was basically decided in this thread that the Techmarine is not an IC; people just decided to ignore it.
