Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

Power Stones are good (really, really good, in my opinion...) but I'd like to see something more interesting on the Lvl 4 caster... Also, for that price, you're halfway to adding a screaming bell to him.

I just know it would bother me if my opponent used a powerstone each turn of the game from one caster. It seems like there must be other ways of casting it. For example, you could give him some warpstone tokens and the skalm to repair wounds, to go with the D3 warpstone tokens he already has.

Overall I like the list a lot... a nice mix of things, and I love the banner of scurrying on that plague unit... a nice touch!

I'm afraid you can only use one power stone per spell( I'm assuming that you wanted to fire off five at the same time!!) I may be wrong, but I think that slaves don't count towards your core choices, so you might need another core. Unless of course that stormvermin are cores in this new book. I just remember the last book when they were specials.

Even then im pretty sure because its not a scroll you can only take one power stone in your army

I thought he was taking that many to try to get it off once each magic phase for 5 turns... which would pretty much be worse than even being allowed to use them all at once, which would just be stopped by a scroll (if it didn't miscast or go off on IF).

Like I said, I'd raise my eyebrows about that part if I was playing against you... otherwise, I like the list a lot.

Also, what is the 10-strong StormVermin unit planning to do? It seems a little out of place being that small.

Edit: Under Power Stone, on page 122 of the mini rulebook "In a similar way to scrolls, Power Stones are not unique items... It is therefore possible for several Wizards to carry Power Stones, and for a Wizard to carry more than one, in addition to one other aracane item. However, only one Power Stone can be used to cast a spell." I think that answers both questions

I use a grey seer in my army, and honestly, dont bother using that many dice for 13th. Just two or three dice at the end of your phase and hope for a IF. i know the gods of chance dont like it if i throw more than three dice at it, as I always seem to miscast!

Screaming Bells are great. they provide an unbreakable unit as an anvil, which can buff units well. You really dont need all those warmachines. Take them out, buy a bell, and bring one clanrat unit up to 30+.

Two Doomwheels are excessive and a large, IMO, liability. A Hellpit Abom is much better value for points, and is damn cool to boot. however, if you are going for a Skyre Theme, ignore me!

I looked at both, and I really preferred the Furnace over the Bell (not that you have to choose, but one makes a nice centrepiece for the army).

Yes, I can only use the Powerstone once per spell, but I can also add five dice for his level, and even toss on one or two of his warpstone tokens as needed. 8 Dice is a nearly guaranteed hardcast after dispels get flushed out.

I really feel the list feels like it has a bit of a story to it even, with minor skyre and pestilens elements led by heroes and a grey seer that brought this army together.

The 10 Stormvermin are core, and they are the cheapest means to bring in the stormbanner along with another weapons team. I would have the grey seer join them, with a warpfire thrower to deter close in rushes (ideally).

Not sure why slaves are not considered core...

The Stormvermin are the unit I'm not too sure about. I wouldn't want to put the Grey Seer there- that unit will attract a ton of firepower then, and have a decent chance of panicking.

If you just want them for the Storm Banner, why not use your last hero slot and get a BSB?

I do like the character and flavor of the army a lot

I really am puzzled as to why people prefer the furnace to the bell.

the furnace has several disadvantages that i can see...

1) once activated, will kill your own troops every turn. Those are the 7point plaguemonks, not 4pt clanrats.

2) cannot be used defensively, powers require you to close quickly and agressively.

3) character riding it is technically more vulnrable that the grey seer, with less wounds, and less access to Magic Items.

The Bell, on the other hand,

1) only one result on its chart is negative to the army. Can be used to buff combatants, kill warmachines, etc.

2) can be used offensively or defensively. 360 LoS for Grey Seer...he can also hide if challanged.

3) Can potentially kill own troops, but they are cheaper than plaguemonks!

Honestly, IMO, the abilities of the bell outweigh any potential combat power the Plague furnace can impart. You dont use either unit to smash the enemy...you use them as an anvil whilst PCB and other nasties smash them in the flanks.

But of course, to each their own. and it IS a bitching model.
