Looking for 2x2 boards like the ones GW sells (they sell the set of 6 2x2). anyone know of somewhere that sells something similar? I don't want to make my own and preferably would like to paint etc. as little as possible.
Something like this the boards found here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_BHjMYyqqg at the 3 minute 20 second mark.
Thanks for the help.

I've seen those but I'm looking for more of a non- GW (mostly because it's cheaper) set. charging $90 for two peices of flat plastic is absurd and, to be honest, They don't even look as nice as, for example, the ones in the Video i posted up. there must be some other company that makes these or things like them.

Checked the entire site and couldn't find the boards :/ might be something that they don't list on their site or only offer in-store or something. Even if i could find it though, that still only leaves two options :( not exactly a good selection

In the video he mentions they are a new product, along with the castle. In addition they mentioned 9 different board packages of three boards each.
You also try e-mailing/calling the company and find out why its not on the website.

Why not just get someone to get 2x2 pieces of marine ply or thin (ish) MDF?
I know you don't want the hassle but slap some paint on and you're done, easy quick and probably not even that much spent on them.

Ah. Good catch caddock. Thanks.
At $230 for 6 2x2's it seems those are expensive too :( Any-one have another site that does them?
As for making your own, how would you make them with hills or something? just flat plywood would be fine but if it's gunna' be flat I mine as well use no board at all it seems.

If you want cheap tiles, TSS is very good.
It stocks lots of sceanery, and 2x2/2x1/1x1 foam tiles, with lots of designs/flock colours ect.
The tiles are very light, and pretty sturdy, although they do dent if you lean your elbows on them.
Reasonable prices too, at £6-10 GB per 2x2 tile.

I think there's a long story behind the various companies with some claim to the name 'old glory' for miniatures. I think i've seen a summary of it somewhere, but basically, "It's complicated."

The best alternative for store bought sheets is to make your own. Making your own, does involve quite a bit of work, but the results are often superior to what you can buy and is cheaper.
Terra Genesis has good tutorials on how to make modular terrain. How I would make modular terrain is by starting with 2x2 1/2" plywood sheets then mount 2x2x1" Woodland Scenics foam sheets to them. By mounting the foam sheets to the plywood you are making the finished sheet durable and resistant to damage. Using the 1" thick foam sheets you can carve in rivers, ponds, and lakes into the foam that would have excellent depth. All you have to do is paint the rivers using one of the many guides on the internet. To make your water stand out from the rest, I would recommend buying Enviro-tex, which is a clear resin that is ready to pour. You can get it in gallon bottles for around $60 and has enough resin to cover all of the waterways you may have carved out.
I would recommend that you don't add hills or other above ground terrain features to the base sheets, but mount them on a base of their own. This way you can rearrange the basic layout with little effort. Another good investment is the Woodland Scenics molds to make cliffs, rocks, etc... This way you can cast as many rock pieces as you want. All told you can build a very nice 6x4 terrain board for about $120 without the trees.

The patriot has it. It is alot cheaper to do your own and does look alot better. My buddy and I are doing this and bought some textured Krylon spray paint that looks like asphalt and are also putting a good bit of buildings and broken up road. I will have to put up some pics when it is all done.

Wouldn't surprise me, but they do sell the same products.
