so can you guys just throw me some basic ideas on tactics for a Saurus Warrior based army
I'm thinking have a unit of HW Saurus as anvils and use spear Saurus as hammers with small units of skink skirmishers on the flanks

How many points are you planning on playing? Saurus are, IMO the second best core block in the game. And cold blooded makes them one of the best anvils you could hope for. High str and attacks makes them good hammers as well. Just be sure you have a compliment of other troop types, an all saurus army will not win vs much. Most armies don't feature them because they are a tad slow (move and init), and if you have a slaan you will prolly have temple guard as your primary block. It's a cool army idea, I would give it a shot with an oldblood or soloslaan. Gl, Hf

Spear Saurus work best in blocks. Only small units should take hand weapons, as the extra 2 attacks more then offsets the +1 AS in large blocks.

A good core would be two blocks of spear saurus flanking a temple guard unit with a slann. Hold your flanks with skirmish skinks and a stegadon or two.

If you are expecting lots of enemy war engines, use an engine and terradons. For fast cav salamanders/razordons work better.
