Old player returning to the hobby here. I played back in 98-01. (Snotling teleporter cannon, good times, good times. So disappointed when they took it out for 3rd.) Just recently picked up some Tau, since they're completely different from my previous 2 armies (Ork and Space Wolves, aka Orks that can actually win, least back in 3rd.)

Me and my buddies took over our FLGS and proceeded to run the thing into the ground. The loss of our hangout spot was a big part in me not playing any GW stuff for 9 years. I still have old stuff from that store floating around, though I ebayed most of the stuff years ago. Kept some of it, like the mordheim stuff and the store copy of Warhammer Quest, but the rest of it I've liquidated.

I'm looking forward to delving back into all this.

Welcome to dak dak! Orks are still good and one of the top ranked armies in major tournaments. Of course you can win with any army if played correctly and some good luck but hey we wouldnt worship the dice gods if you could throw an army on the table and have an insta-win.
