Deployment
I concentrated on the left of a rocky cravas. there was protection on this side to shield denny. center was clear mostly and would provide a lane for the stealth troops. right also had some protection with rocks.
I deployed the first group of 3 scraps on the left, then the defiler, denny, banes behind a rock in my deployment, siren, skarlock, nightmare, banes, pistolwraiths and the other 3 scrappthralls.
he deployed further to the right and from right to left deployed: destroyer, beast (bonded to sorcha) sorcha and the guarddog behind them, winterguard to the left, then fieldgun and mortar. these had good overview of the center terrain. the widowmakers deployed in the center in front of a rock that
ws in his deployment zone.
I started and ran everything up. mechthralls get ghostwalk. denny recieves protection on the left from the rockride she is standing behind. defiler stands in front of her. skarlock behind her.
His turn he moves up the fieldgun and mortar. the winterguard move to the left as he sees his deployment error. sorcha casts shatterstorm on the destroyer and iron flesh. beast and destroyer run up to the left a bit.
My turn I start by rereading Hellmouth. I concluded that it would be a fun turn

I gave the defiler a focus and kept the rest myself. the defiler walked up to the mortar and fired on it. it killed 1 of the mortarcrew (with boost to hit) and the officer and banner of the winterguard. (bad positioning on the part of my opponent) they both failed tough. The Flag is picked up by another in the unit. I then used denny and cast hellmouth on a crewman of the fieldgun. I pulled in the mortar, fieldgun and crew, 1 winterguard and 1 widowmaker. they all died. it was going well for me

. 1 pistolwraith took a position behind a rocky outcrop and shot at the destroyer, chilling it in the process. the other wraith walked up, but did not shoot, as hitting the widowmakers would be very hard. All the scrapps run up and take up nice positions. the rest walk up.
He starts by handing out 2 focus to the destroyer and 1 to beast. (after long deliberating

) He upkeeps only shatterstorm. he starts by putting a destroyershell into the wraith but misses. unfortunatly e only scatter an inch and takes the wraith out on a boosted damageroll. beast charged 3 mechthralls. They died again. beast was showing his backside to the banes. this would be nice. The kovnik moves up and yells for the motherland to the winterguard. he then fires on the defiler, missing. the winterguard move up and 1 fires on a lone scrap. it dies. then 3
CMA on the defiler, missing. the last uses a spray on 2 thralls and does nothing. a abysmal turn for my opponent. widowmakers take out 2 scrapps on the right and 1 mechthrall.
My turn I give 3 focus to the nightmare. I start with denegra. she feats and casts Hellmouth on the winterguard, pulling them and kovnik in close and destroying all but kovnik (bad roll...) I then move the defiler up a bit getting a perfect spray of the kovnik and 3 widowmakers. I unfortunately fail to hit 2 of them, but kovnik and a widowmaker die. I then use the second pistolwraith to lock down the destroyer again. a scrapthrall is used to assault beast from behind doing small damage. then the banes get ghostwalk and charge the beast, getting 4 in the back and 1 on the side (missing on double 1 only). beast lives with 8 damage left. I charge nightmare and throw the beast away, hitting and killing the other 2 widowmakers. beast is knocked down and shadowbound. Because my movements are done I hand the turn over to my opponent.
He concedes after reviewing his possibilitys...
I like hellmouth. it is almost unavoidable for units to get cought in it. Ghostwalk also gives a lot of possibilities for navigating the kind of terrain we had. I unfortunately have not used her other spells, but that is for the next time.
