Thought I start a painting blog to keep up my own motivation with painting my pointy ears. This is one of my first "good" armies. Also its one of my few non-horde based armies. I'm posting here for 2 reason.

1. You don't see that many high elf players here, maybe I can inspire someone
2. To get great feedback! I like the honesty people give each other here. I also figure many sets of eyes are better than 1!

Nice work mate. Ill follow this.

I like Elves of all demoninations but ended up doing Dark Elves back in the day as I loved the miniatures (something that probably would not change if I re visited WHFB as I love the new ones, especially the Witch Elves even more!!!).

However I liked the approach you have taken with the green. Its a nice change from the traditional Blue and white that has become IMO a bit boring.

Any advice a alternate shields to use? I don't like the traditional High Elf Shield. I was thinking something circular?

Added in the work on the lion princes. I made one as a test model a couple days ago. Idea was given to be by a buddy a couple days ago. After making my first test model, did some web searches, and found some examples on the warhammer forum that gave me ideas. Here's the result. I stuck with the Lance as I wanted to try to stay as wysiwyg as possible

Nice. I was wondering how nicely the Silver Helm bodies would fit on the White Lions.

Good to see another HE army in here. Makes me feel like I should dredge up my guys from their non-painted/half-painted purgatories.

The leg's required a little bit of fudging, green stuffing underneath to fit snug for my liking. I initialy debated Dragon Prince Riders, but they were a little to heavy for my liking creating a front heavy model. The bases are magnetized, so not a huge deal, but still I had some concerns. You have to stagger the bases a little, as if you do not they will not rank up as the Lion's are wider then HE Steeds. I think the staggering makes for more of a unit in motion visualization then a straight line of models.

On a very loose test fit (heh, I think everyone thought the same) I noticed the leg-fudging needed. Looks nice overall and I'm anxious to see them painted up.

I take it you're going with a Chracian theme for the army?

I usually look for something to make my army building not feel bland. I like to build and convert. I originally wanted a pure dragon prince army IE 4 units, and then backed down to 2 units. I liked the look of the lion model and decided to go with that. I had 4, got 2 more from friends. I wanted to create a unit that really pops to build the army around, that was distictive. So I went with the lions over the horses. Part of it involved, for some reason, horses I paint always look funny

I finished the unit of spearman minus the standard bearer and the musician. I wanted to update the first lion prince as painted. I haven't put together the shields for the army yet. The lion princes will have a lion shield. I'm opting for dwarf shields with the symbols filed off for the spear elves.

Finished the noble, and finished the first 5 archers. If you take a look closely i'm all ready to shoot in 2 ranks! All my archer units have the first rank kneeling, with the 2nd rank standing on a level of rocks. I fixed the highlights on the archers to the far right.

I'm not so sure about the eagle, the head looks rather jarring. Like it is wearing warpaint.

Love the green on the first noble.

The Eagle is the Wood Elf model, the facial detailing is actually build into the model and isn't as jarring as the picture show's. The final white highlight really picks up the flash unfortunately. I may change it to a green highlight instead so the warpaint blends with the army.

In the long run: do you think I should go with the High Elf model? Its large and looks more imposing then the wood elf one? Also the wood elf one has these annoying vines built into the model that I filed and blended into the model, but left a little area that doesn't quite look right on the model
