So I've bought the battalion for Ogre Kingdoms and I am trying to make it into a 1000 pt army list. After looking at different ways to do it online, I've got three lists below. Which do you think will be more of an "all-comers" list and able to hold their own at the 1000 pt level? The heroes will be converted from Iron Guts and Leadbelchers. The additional Gnobblers will be taken from the regular Ogre spures. Thanks for the input!

List #1 - 999 pts

Hero
Bruiser with Tenderizer - 184
Butcher with Bangstick - 155

Core
3 Bulls with bellower 115
3 Bulls with bellower 115
4 Iron Guts with bellower and Gutlord 222
8 Gnoblar Trappers 48
20 Gnoblar Fighers 40

Special
2 Leadbelchers with bellower 120

Main charge from the two Bull units and Iron Guts. Bruiser goes with the Iron Guts and Butcher hangs back with the Leadbelchers. Gnoblers? Hold table quarters or stop an opposing scout charge on the leadbelchers.

List #2 - 999 pts
Hero
Butcher Halfling Cookbook and Gnobler Thiefstone 180

Core
6 Bulls full command Iron Fist and Light Armor 308
Iron Guts full command 242
Gnoblar Fighters with Groinbiter (seriously, that's his title?) 42
Gnoblar Trappers with Snarefinger 52

Special
3 Leadbelchers with bellower 175

Only a Butcher for a general this time around (army builder wouldn't let me make him my General, is that a restriction?) More leadbelchers, but the Bulls all in one unit to try for some great impact hits. I like the look of 6 Bulls in a unit but I see most people breaking them up. Is that to get more units on the board? And yes, I know standard bearer make for easy points for the opponent, but I just like having a +1 combat res starting out (that's the empire player in me). Gnoblars would fulfill the same role as above.

List #3 - 997
Hero
Bruiser w/Tenderizer and luck Gnoblar 185
Butcher w/Bangstick and 2 Tooth Gnoblar 165

Core
3 Bulls w/Iron Fists, Lt Armor, and Bellower 139
3 Bulls w/Iron Fists, Lt Armor, and Bellower 139
3 Iron Guts w/ Full Command 194

Special
3 Leadbelchers w/Bellower 175

So this list is an all Ogre list. Weakness being that table quarters at the end of the game are up for grabs. Also, each unit is small, so maybe bad survivability there.

I think I like the first list the best, but that's just me! Comments?

#1 definitely, it brings bodies, tools and heat. My one change would be to drop the gutlord and pick up ahw on the bulls, but this would require downsizing the tenderizer to something else. Frankly at 1000 points you shouldn't really need Big T. If you're utterly in love with it then at least equip one bull unit with extra attaks for the cost of the gutlord, and use the little bit extra to field a few more gnoblars.

#2 is illegal, a butcher can't be general.

#3 has a lot of ill-spent points IMO: luck gnoblar on a model with just a 6+ save, tooth gnoblars at all (they are slightly less good than you think), over-equipped bulls, far too much command on too small a unit of guts (standard is cool, but on 4+ ogre units), and 3 belchers I know from experience just are not good. You get more shots in theory, but really it more insures at least one misfire, and it makes you think that you can toss that belcher unit into frontal combats. In short, you can't, but their price makes you want to, so it's a bit of a trap. That and it sacrifices the versatility of 2 belcher units.

Would you suggest the Skullplucker? Or just a great weapon? "Mr. T" does sound like a character/unit killer. I suppose the problem is guaranteeing that wounds are caused?

Dont ever take leadbelchers, (My opinion), they just don't do that great, on paper maybe if you get that lucky roll and take out a dragon, but ehhhhh... no.
I'm not sure, but i think you need a hunter in your army to take gnoblar trappers.
Instead of leadbelchers, you should take either, a unit of maneaters, or 1 gorger.

Go with option 1, although I would lose the trappers and upgrade the bulls with either 2x weapons or iron fists. Also drop the tenderizer at this points level and get a great weapon and the +1 T big name... Looks solid otherwise. Those are the best tweaks without dropping a unit of bulls for more beltchers/rare. Maneaters are basically a unit of cheaper bruisers... Take a second to compair the stats/abilities and gorgers are rock solid for their cheap points

40k: 2000 - White Scars
Hordes: 5/100 - Circle of Orboros

I'd say #1 as well.

Yeah, the Tenderizer is a little much in a smaller game, and Maw Seeker (that's the +1 T big name, right?) is really good. Is it Siegebreaker that gives a +3 S and compares your WS to their I, because I've really seen that thing put to good use, especially considering it's lower point cost. But a regular great weapon should work too.

The Trappers seem to be a key distraction, honestly. I think their use as a low-point skirmishing unit is huge in this army, especially at 1000pts.

I think that the key to a generalist OK army is to field a lot of potential targets (they can't kill them all...right?). You've got a pretty good hold on this thus far.

ur army will get the kills don't worry abou that, but ull find that the real problem with ogres is their leadership.

Lose combat to a big block of infantry and fail the break test, you get overrun, nearby units fail thier panic test big bad bad problem. although this seems overexaggerative, the problem still exists, ogres suck after combat and break easily. Take magic items that counter this problem, the Kineater big name is a great solution to this, so is small items like fist full of laurels, or jade lion.

The NUMBER ONE list is also illegal because the amount in the HERO category is over by at least 10 or more. You will have to take a lord instead of a hero leader of the army
