Subject: Pinning a model to base

I have searched and can't seem to find the info I need so was hoping someone could help. I want to pin metal figures to the standard round or square GW type bases. How do I go about this? I know it sounds stupid but I have tried and can't seem to be able to get the pin to stick well in the base cause it is raised on the edges so there isn't much for the pin and glue to grab onto . Help.

Try putting a bit of green stuff in the hole you drilled, and let it sit for a little while so that it starts to get hard, then add superglue to the hole with the green stuff and put the pin in...this should give the hole a little more strength, as well as hold the pin in tighter to offer more stability.

Green stuff under the base where you intend to make the hole. Let it cure. Drill into the Green Stuff. Solid.

For a plastic slotta base, I use a piece of sprue glued under where I want the hole (with plastic glue).
Gives you a few extra mm of plastic to hold it in place.
Simple, easy and who doesn't have spare sprue?

I've never had a problem with this. I usually use a 1/16" drill bit for pinning models to bases. I use either a big paper clip or two small ones. I drill through the foot/base of the model and then through the base. I line the holes up, put some glue on the model, and then put glue on the pin and push it through into the foot. I wait until it is dry to trim the paperclip off.
