Hey guys picked up the MK2 rulebook a couple weeks ago and have been researching the whole privateer press thing since. I'm stumped on a couple things, answers to any of these are appreciated

1. Is the Forces of warmachine: Retribution of Scyrah book valid in MK2? I read somewhere that it was the first book written in MK2 rules, but under "Books" on PP's website, there is no mention of the book...i'm used to GW's way of doing the online thing (if it's not up there, it's being rewritten or not supported anymore)

2. Why isn't scyrah anywhere to be found in the MK2 rulebook?

3. Are any of the pre-MK2 warmachine books worth picking up..i realize they are in MK1 rules, but fluff/story wise, are a couple head and shoulders above the rest?

4. Should i wait until the new Hordes MK2 is released this summer before getting into that?

and finally...Cryx or retribution??

All I can really answer there is number 1. Yes it's legal for MKII, in fact thats the only edition it's legal for.

Cryx or Ret? Genocidal elves or vaguely evil undead? Tough choice, it's all you man.

1. Yep, it's a MkII book.

2. No idea. All the models in Prime MkII are reprinted in the 'Forces of ...' books anyway.

3. Apotheosis is probably the best of the bunch IMO.

4. Probably. You could probably get a battlebox and a few models you like and play 15 point games in the mean time. The rules are out in three months anyway.

5. Cryx (not biased at all). The world needs more Cryx players, unless you're playing me.

1. Yes, point costs and all.

2. Scyrah are more or less refered to like a rumor and the Primers are always kind of a compendium of general knowledge thus why they are only spoken about in a grand total of 5 pages through out the whole book.

3. If you enjoy fluff I thought the Mercs book was pretty good.

4. No the rules are live now with the live beta test so you just have to find the pdf's and you can jump right in.

Find out what the majority of people in your area play and pick something different or pick the army that has the play style/ models you like.

I am in no way biased, but play cryx.

They have evil undead creatures and horny women. they even have undead pirates. what is not too like....

real reason: if you like a army with a lot off fodder, troops that go boom and have lots of sneaky ways to go for the kill then cryx will be your cup of tea. they are fast and deadly, but have low armour because of it....

retribution I can't really comment on, as I do not have them and have not played against them yet...

good luck picking a side (as long as it is cryx )
