Hello all. I am in the process of building a 2,000 point army and this is what I have So Far.

Well this si what i am thinking about so far. let me know what you think. I know I don't have to many multi meltas in the army. I honestly don't have the models yet and i'm not sure the wisdom of sticking them on tac squads if i end up combat squading them.

Thanks for your time.

Epistolary is not worth the points but good psychic powers

Terminator Assalt Squad x5
Thunder hammers storm shields x5
Land Raider (Redeemer) transport
the bread and butter of Vulcan lists

Dreadnaught
Assalt cannon, heavy flamer
drop pod
Stick to what works, keep the multi-melta

Tac squad x10
1pf 1flamer 1rocket launcher
transport rhino

If you plan on combat squading take razorbacks
Vindicator
siege shield storm bolter

The only thing better than a Vindicator is two Vindicators and the only better than that is three, I'd drop the Storm bolters tho.
Whirlwind
Storm bolter
Not a fan of Whirlwinds

The main thing your missing is Land Speeders. Multi-melta/ Hvy Flamer Speeders are nasty in a Vulcan list

Drop the Whirlwhind and the Epistolary upgrade and take 2 MM/HF Land Speeders. Keep in mind that the Redeemer does not have the transport capacity to hold the Assault Terminators and both HQ's, so either the Librarian is going to be on foot every game, or Vulkan is going to be riding with a Combat Squad, neither of which are very good options.

To be honest I would drop the Librarian entirely at this level. Most of the dangerous Psychic Powers (Lash, JOTWW, etc) aren't going to effect a Mech force too badly so the Psychic Hood isn't really necessary. At higher point levels go for it, but two HQ's at this points level in a list that already contains a Land Raider and Assault Terminators means you're spreading yourself pretty thin.

Try a few games without the Power Fists on the Tactical Squads and see how you go. I ran with them for many games and never actually used them, you can probably find a better place to spend 75 points.

Agreed on the Dreadnought, keep him simple with the Heavy Flamer + Drop Pod.

You brighten my life like a polystyrene hat, but it melts in the sun like a life without love, and I've waited for you so I'll keep holding on without you.

Downunder

Consider a Godhammer over the Redeemer. The redeemer is fun, but the Godhammer gives Salamander's long-ranged power. True you've got the missile launchers in the tactical squads but adding the TL-lascannons give you the reliable long ranged High Strength weapons that most people expect you to not have. Its only 10 points more than the redeemer but it helps the imbalance with the short ranged weapons

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...

-A single raider is not enough at 2000 points. If it is a lone target, it will be the priority 1 target on the board until it stops moving. More are trickier to stop before they start doing silly things with their terminators to you. Bring 0 or 2.

-Storm Shield on the Librarian, no need for epistolary.

-I never understood why people bring Vindicators into a Vulkan list. You have access to the best anti-tank in the game (twin-linked meltas), and the best templates (twin-linked flamers in droves). What role are those vindicators filling that a few Landspeeders with MM/HF don't do better?

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.
