so I will be going into my first apoc game in a few days.... and my puny brain is having a hard time figuring out the rules!
I want to play the masters of the chapter as I have bought the models. HOWEVER, the entry seems a bit vague to me.
a few questions..

1. can the masters be fielded by themselves or do they have to be with a chapter master?
2. how much do I pay for them (are they captains chapter masters or other)?
3. do I have to take all 4 or can I just take 1 or 2

oh and in other news.... I have heard of people talking about terminator command squads but I have never seen one and don't even think they make bitz for them, so what are they?

thanks-

When buying a formation in Apocalypse, you always have to buy everything on the list, unless it says 0+. You pay for them as individual units (so yes, this formation can push well over 1000 points) plus the cost of the formation itself.

The name of this formation is misleading. The models are actually Captains, with the exception of the Chapter Master himself, so they cost as much as a Captain.

Terminator Command Squads were originally the same as Terminator Squads but available as a retinue for models in Terminator armour. This option no longer exists in most codices, if not all.

I believe that the dark angel codex is the only one that still has terminator command squads available.

Note that the formation actually refers to the previous Codex: Space Marines, but most of the units described still translate well enough for the newer Codex.

1. They all have to be purchased together, but no rule forces them to be deployed together. They will not confer their bonuses onto your army, though, unless they're attached to the same squad as the Chapter Master.
2. "Space Marine Commander" is the old Codex's term for a Space Marine Captain.
3. The formation lists each Master as "1 Master of [...]", so you must take exactly one, no more and no less.
