If you combine a rune of smiting, (replacing 1 with 1d6 for every wound) and the Rune of Flame (Making it flaming attacks) is it possible, by placing these on, say the Deamon Slayer (with 4 atks) you could max out at (4x6)x2) = 48 wounds?
Because you have a maximum of 24 wounds if you roll all 6's for wounds, and then flaming?

In theory, if you're going against something flammable (like a Treeman), yes. GW has set precedent of doubling a double with the Bane Head/Pirhana Blade combo.

Yes, that would work... Of course you're taking a Daemonslayer to do that, so... that stinks. Add a Rune of Might or Rune of Snorri Spanglehelm to increase your wounds or hits respectively...

Actually it wont work, as there arent any models with 12 wounds out there.
Wound multipliers, like Flammable and D6 wounds, can ONLY take as many wounds off the model as the model has.
So if you came up against Treekin, with 3 wounds each, then the minimum number of wounds would be 2 (D6==1, flammable) but your maximum is still 3 wounds for each wounding hit you cause.

What about for purposes of overkill? Like chopping up a treeman ancient in a challenge? I know your combat res will still cap out at wounds +5, so you would stop at +11 CR.
I assumed that you could do extra wounds in that sort of situation.

How many times would that situtation come into play? Not much. Its not much of a concern. In order for it to happen your talking about a Dwarf player vs a Wood Elf player, with a Dwarf player running the slayer character as a lord with the exact combo of runes vs the Wood Elf player dumb enough to actually be in the combat with him
Theory hammer: yes its possible, it could affect the combat IF other units are involved. Yes in theory the Slayer could do 3-4 wounds with his abilities, and because they are magical, would ignore WD tree spirit ward. So it would go d6 for wounds for each initial wound. It would probably never happen though.

Red_Zeke - yes, only in a challenge though, and only 11 maximum.
UNlikely to happen, as has been pointed out the only other "flammable" would be TK, and neither WE nor TK let you into combat on anything other than THEIR terms.

It's a really specific situation of a Dwarf Demon Slayer and a Treeman... But don't forget that when a Slayer have a runic weapon he lose is Slayer ability, so he only have 4A at S4... again T6 he need 6 to do wound, but if he is really lucky with those rune he can do alot of damage!
The idea is really good to put this rune of 1D6 wounds, I usually use a Deamon Slayer alone, but i put the rune who make me strike first an a rune who give me +1S and the Rune of Snorri... I can easily charge on a flanc of a big Black Orc regiment and stuck him for few turns. With the 1D6 wounds, you can kill a General with that!

I think the slayer only loses the ability of slayer axes, if he is armed with a runic axe. So he can no longer choose if he is attacking with a GW or two axes. He still maintains his natural slayer ability.

Something even more unlikely to happen would have to occur first- Dwarf player would have to take a Daemon slayer. Honestly though, I'm not quite so simple as to think this is ever going to come up in a game, but thanks for pointing it out. I was just trying to point out, that it *is* possible to deal more wounds that a model has. You could still do your absurd amount of wounds, it just won't count for anything past +11.
@Qcbob: He loses his Slayer Axes ability, not his slayer ability. So he will still ratchet strength up to match the toughness of what he's fighting, to a maximum of 6.
