Personally I've got around 10,000 points of 40k stuff and rising and my wife keeps telling me that I've got enough.
But the question is how much 40k is too much?

As long as you are not missing out on important things and can still afford it and live comfortably, there is never enough.
If you were sitting outside a GW and pan handling, picking up change and selling your body for the cashola for the hobby, I say you may have to stop.
From the looks of it though, you are probably fine and should stick with it haha

I am sorry but I don't agree. Picking up change and pan handling is just sensible thrift and being friendly. If you don't ask you never get. Selling your body for cash is a great way of making money for more figures whilst meeting new people who might be interested in playing. As for your needs, packaging cardboard can be nutritious and a suprisingly sturdy shelter can be constructed from GW figure cases. Problem, what problem?

In my opinion, half the hobby is in the painting and assembling If you're into it for the art's sake, then you may want to continue buying, but also consider selling some of the stuff you don't use (provided you build and paint well).
If you're in the hobby for the game itself, I personally believe 2000 points for an army without weargear tacked on is approaching the limit, unless you plan on playing apocalypse constantly. This is mostly because from what I've seen, few games go above that limit. If you want, you could always branch out to new armies, but like in my case, I'll have little use for four monoliths and two of each C'Tan.
This has always been my rationale: Every paycheck, I either save or pay off extra debt in addition to normal bills, to total $1000. I have a "fun" budget. This includes going out to eat, booze (and bars), video games, and the like.
You can spend $100 a night on a night at the club. You can spend $60 on a video game you'll beat in two weeks. You can spend $200 on a bigger, better appliance, when you barely used your old one before it broke in the first place. Or you can spend $90 and buy an army battleforce and spend a month putting it together, taking your time with it. As long as you're having fun for a good long while, you get your money's worth. Because, as we all know, if you're bored to tears, you're going to end up spending your money on something either equally or more pointless to keep yourself occupied anyway. As long as you don't spend your money faster than you make it, what difference does it make on where it goes?

My wife often tells me I have too much Warhammer stuff as well. I am placating her at the moment with The Great Ebay Sale (untouched miniatures and kits hold their value quite well, rulebooks not so much), but it will likely be replaced in the years to come
