So I went over to my mates house in B'Ham last night and played a small game with him. I wanted a small game as it was a week night and B'Ham is a 40 mile all round trip for me, plus my baby daughter has been a rascal the last few nights and getting us up at 1a :( .
Anyway my mate hasn't played
40k for several months so it should be interesting, battle of the traitor legions commence!

Turn 1
I rolled to go first and put down a
DP and a rhino with meltaguns and powerfist down. I then rolled the rest of my stuff on; the obliterators moved 4" through cover and because of
SnP and moved onto my objective in a ruin.
Nothing done in the shooting turn.
Nurgle deploys a single rhino with the sorcerer and meltagun plague marines. The rest then roll on, with a squad taking the plague objective.
Turn 2
Now everything had come on I had my plan in mind. First threats were the vindicators; I didn't want these firing at my D.P's or blasting away my rhinos. Second would be the squad with the sorcerer - lash could mess up my D.P's by making them move where I want, or even the oblits, that's if the sorcerer got into range.
So in my movement turn I moved the plasma squad to outflank one vindicator - my meltas were too far away. I moved the
DP's towards the sorcerers rhino in hope of next turn assaulting the rhino and then assaulting the troops inside. My other rhino moved forward, acting as a screen for one prince and the plan was to pop the othe vindicator. My obliterators move more better into view.
Not a lot of shooting and I forgot to fire the obliterators!
In the nurgle marines turn not a lot happens, one
DP gets lash but only 3" and is popped by the other prince. The vindicator which can draw
LOS to them fires but scatters and misses. The other vindicator fires at the nearby rhino with meltaguns but scatters and misses also - or I saved a cover from smoke I cannot remember, but either way it did sod all!
Turn 3
With all my units positioned and survived from the previous vindicator shelling it was now time to get to work. The plasma squad's rhino moves through terrain ok; the chaos marines bail out and aim at the weak side armour of the vindicator. The melta squad with the powerfist moves in front of the other vindicator and readies those meltaguns. Both princes cast warptime and move towards the sorcerer's rhino. My remaining
CSM squad holds up the rear close to the objective and pops smoke, just in case.
Plasma guns fire and wreck the vindicator, meltaguns fire but only score crew stunned on the other vindicator, which possession ignores. I think I probably I forgot to fire the oblits again as I don't remember them doing anything.
In assault one
DP assaults the sorcerers rhino and scores immobilised result. The other
DP assaults the vindicator and wrecks it.
In the plague marine turn the flamer squad on the plague objective move out and bail out to BBQ ready to unleash the flame on the plasma
CSM squad which busted the vindicator. The sorcerer and plague marines bail out the rhino ready to tackle the
DP. The other rhino with plague marines fails to move through terrain, so they bail out and take aim at the daemon prince which totalled the vindicator.
In the shooting turn the plasma
CSM lose only 3 men from mass flamer assault. Both princes take 3 wounds each, only 1 wound left each.
In assault the
DP against the sorcerer and nurgle marines manages to kill 4 plague marines, the other prince kills 3 also but dies to a power fist. The flamer nurgle marines slaughter the plasma
CSM in close combat.
Turn 4
I now want to take the objective; however the plasma marines are dead. So I move the powerfist melta squads rhino through terrain, which is fine. The marines bail out and run but only make it to the second level but claim the objective. To secure my own objective I backup the other melta squads rhino through terrain and onto my own objective.
Obliterators fire plasma cannons at the flamer plague marines but one is out of range and because half the unit is in cover they get cover saves. Luckily the plague marines take wounds and now only have 4 left.
In assault the phase the daemon prince kills more marines and wipes the squad out, though the sorcerer remains with 2 wounds.
In the plague marine turn the sorcerer joins the other squad of plague marines which beat the other D.P in close combat. They jump back into the immobilised rhino and fire meltas killing the last prince. The last operational rhino heads over to my objective.
The flamer marines having shot at the iron warriors on there objective charge, the iron warriors lose combat but re-roll morale because of chaos icon and stick around.
Turn 5
With my iron warriors locked in combat I no longer claim the plague marine objective as they was pulled away from it; however I claim my own so I'm currently winning. My plan is to take out the sorcerers rhino (which was repaired last round) and take out the oncoming rhino. At least then nothing will reach my objective.
In my movement the
CSM on my objective move out and target meltas at the oncoming plague rhino.
In the shooting turn the
CSM fire meltas and pop the oncoming rhino. The obliterators fire multi meltas and immobilised the sorcerers ride once again - which means they're on foot and won't reach my objective.
Assault is a draw
btw.
In the plague marine turn the plague marines bail out the rhino only leaving the sorcerer inside. They move towards my objective and target meltaguns at my rhino.
In the shooting turn the plague marines and jammily in range and wreck my rhino!
In assault only 2 plague marines are left and 4 iron warriors though combat remains.
Turn 6
Even though the plague marines won't reach my objective I'm going to nuke them. If I fail assault the game will be a draw, or I keep tied in assault and I win.
In the movement phase my
CSM squad runs onto my objective; claiming it.
In the shooting turn my oblits unleash plasma cannons, one scatters but the other kills 2 plague marines - not what I was after.
In assault not a lot happens...nail biting stuff!
The plague marines on foot move towards my objective but are still about 12" away. They fire at my
CSM squad but don't do anything.
In assault my iron warriors wipe out the plague marines and consolidate onto the plague marine objective.
Iron Warriors win claiming all objectives!
Summary
Not a lot to say really except my plans worked well. I'm also glad that in close combat against the sorcerer my
DP put all attacks on the plague marines; the monstrous creature attacks allowed no saves and minced the plague marines.
Good battle I don't think anything could have been done differently for either side; besides me remembering to shoot my obliterators!!
