I wasn't sure if this should be in YMDC or the modeling section, so I placed it in both...

I have a list up in the Army List section that is based on the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Part of this list is Vendettas taht will be painted with the color scheme and markings of the F4-U Corsairs, flown by VMF-213.

Here is my dilema. The Corsair had its machine guns mounted in the wings, rather than the traditional nose mount design of the time. They did this to "hit" a larger area of the sky, as the more manueverable Zero tried to dodge them. Keeping with that, I was thinking of mounting all of my lascannons under the wings, 3 on each side, making theTwin-linked go as outter, middle, inner in relation to the hull.

What do you guys think? Will I have some legal issues at tourneys and such? I hate to put the work in , then get them disallowed.

I don't think any TO would have a problem with this. The Model is still WYSIWYG, even if the weapons are in a different spot.

but, to be sure talk to the TO

RaW, you can't use conversions, so the only way to be sure is to ask your TO.

More on the Raw for no conversions? Really?

BTW...there is no official GW model for the Vendetta, only a Forge World conversion....

The rules say only Citadel Miniatures can be used. Forge World are still Citadel Miniatures,

You are never given permission to convert your models, therefore you cannot.

FW == Citadel Miniatures

On this conversion you are actually losing a bit of reach for the nose lascannon, so if you point out to the TO (and your opponents) that you have to measure all shots from where the weapons are mounted that may be a strike in your favor. You arent modelling for an advantage, this arrangement is losing you a couple inches of range for the one weapon.

Plus, a really well painted and themed model tends to win favor as well. If it looks really cool, thats usually going to make it fine.

Sliggoth

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

Thats complete and utter bs. Where'd you get nonsense that contravenes one of the primacies of GW gaming since RT when they didn't HAVE vehicles from? Seriously this supposed RAW nonsense you're spouting is going too far.

Do them how you want. Just make all LOS/distance items from where they would nromally be mounted. Issue resolved from both a RAW and RAI issue.
