Does the BT Vow ATWDTW work against being insta-killed by a force weapon?

This also came up in my game tonight.. I wasn't sure, neither was he.

The Force Weapon's ability to kill instantly is a psychic power... so yes, I see no reason it wouldn't work.

I think the reason we weren't sure is because the vow says any power targeting and BT character or Squad. I wasn't sure if this was targeting the character, or was just an activated ability on the weapon.

If the power is about to kill you I'm pretty sure it's targeting you.

GW could benefit from doing a bit more to specify what psychic powers do, even if it's as simple as just calling them Offensive or Defensive. It's sometimes not that easy to say what something is. For example Veil of Tears is a defense, but it certainly "affects and/or includes in the area of effect" a squad of SoB that stand to lose their shots.

Need to double check but if that the vow to prevent psychic power and you use the force weapon, it is a psychic power and can thus be ignored if the roll is sucessfuly. The rules for force weapons say it grants the user one additional psychic power that can be used per turn.

Yes, it is a Psychic Power and ATWDTW works on it just fine.
