Subject: What happens when passengers can't disembark from an Desroyed Vehicle?

I have 2 questions regarding passengers and wrecked vehicles.
#1 If the vehicle is surrounded say a Rhino on it's access points and gets EXPLODED, the passengers are placed where the vehicle was. But they cannot be placed without some of the models in the unit being within 1" of an enemy model since the rhino was originally surrounded. So what happens to the passengers?
Does the whole unit get destroyed? Do only the models that can't avoid being within 1" get destroyed? Do they burrow under ground or sprout wings and fly off into the sunset?
#2
Lets say the vehicle is surrounded by enemies on all it's access points and it gets WRECKED during the enemy's asasult phase.
The passengers use an emergency disembark and then act as normal during their own turn? The Emergency Disembark rule says they can deploy from any part of the hull and then can't do anything for the rest of the turn. Meaning your opponents turn right? So they would be all good and normal on their own turn.

1) RaW there is no answer. The rules do not cover what happens in this situation for an "Explodes" result, only for a "Wrecked".
2) The emergency Disembark rule IIRC says they become Pinned.

(^^,) That is why I said IIRC. On the laptop not near my books atm. If it doesn't say pinned but just says "for the rest of the turn", then they would indeed be fee to act in their turn.

ah excuse my ignorance i am not aware of what IIRC stands for. But yeah i also thought they become pinned, apparently thats not the case... and i could've sworn units become destroyed if they cant disembark without being within 1" but the rulebook has nothing on the issue which is silly.

Well, models unable to disembark from a Wrecked vehicle are killed (i.e. say you can only fit 5/10 models, 5 disembark and 5 are killed) but it has no such rules for Explodes.

The usual argument on this boils down to whether or not you consider troops appearing in the crater as disembarking from the vehicle. If so, then the 1" rule applies. If not, then the game comes to a crashing halt and you have to figure it out for yourself.
There have been multi-page threads in the past discussing the whole 'it's disembarking' vs 'it's not disembarking' issue... Chalk it up as one more on the 'discuss it with your opponent' list.
