In a few short weeks, NHL and NBA will be wrapping up their 2010 campaigns, while the MLB show will begin tomorrow.
As it stands, my two teams out of the NHL and NBA respectively are the Islanders of Long Island and the Knicks of Madison Square Garden.
All I have to say this thank god the nightmare will end in a few short games.
I'm sure there are other teams out there in the USA (and across the pond) that have fared worse than these teams, but I take solace in the fact that both can only go on to be better next year.
Anyone have any silver lining for the teams they root for but were abyssmal in the last year?

I like the browns of the NFL. they end up stinking as much as the name implies. but it's fun to root for them anyways.

Come on I'm cheering for the KC Chiefs to get the worse performing team of all time this season. At least I won't be disappointed.

I have bled blue and white for the Toronto Makeme Laffs, or the Loafs, or whatever you want to call them, for years. There is no silver lining ever. The Leaf fans who think so are delusional. I remember when the Leafs were good with Sitler, MacDonald and Williams. I remember when they had Dougie, Clarkie and Potplant in goal. I remember the 80s being terrible but looking more like a golden age compared to the last handful of seasons.
But hey, even the Red Sox won the world series, right?
Go Leafs Go.

Hey, I remember you're team. They knocked off the Islanders in 7 games in the first round about 8 years ago. It was about the ONLY shot my Islanders had at going far into the playoffs in the last 20 years.

Hey I have to back to when my dad was a kid in the 1960s when the last time the Kansas City Chiefs won the Superbowl. All sports in KC suck. The Royals choke every damn year since 1986. I wish there was a night the fans get in free if they were alive the last time both teams did good in one season.

I have no complaints overall as I'm a diehard Cardinals (Baseball) and Green Bay Packers (Football) fan. Bit of a lukewarm Blues hockey fan and it's still hard to watch what is essentially the Chicago Cubs of the NHL flop around in mediocrity every year despite the talent level on the roster.

Somewhat off-topic, but I hate fair weather fans. How many 49ers fans were there in the 80's and early 90's compared to now? And being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I hate: Ravens, Raiders, and Cowboys; and yes, I'd be happy if they traded Santurdio Holmes and Roethlisberger for a bag of practice balls at this point.
Being from Pittsburgh, our baseball season is over... now. Yes, the first day of the season. Losing record for what, 18 years in a row now? Sigh.

Many, many years after watching Dino Cicarelli play for the Washington Capitols, they're FINALLY front-runners in the NHL! Thank you, Caps!
...Now if Donovan McNabb, Willie Parker and Larry Johnson can help spark the Redskins' offense, my old home town of D.C. might actually be able to end a sports season feeling GOOD about themselves!

How are the Capitals doing in the NHL this year? I used to follow them back when we had coverage here in England, but haven't seen them play for a while... I seem to recall we were having a rubbish few seasons.

Actually, they are doing very well. They are probably going to be the best team to win the Stanley Cup.
And I hate the Capitals as well.

The Caps are dominating the season and will probably win the president's trophy for best regular season team. They've got great players in Ovechkin and Backstrom. But they'll choke in the playoffs. Sidney Crosby of the Penguins has Ovechkin's number. A lot of hockey fans HATE Cindy Crysbaby, his nic-name, but seriously, two cup finals, one cup, an olympic gold and he is like 22 years old.
I cheer for the Leafs. I don't hate. Emotions are irrelevant for Leaf fans. There's just the great abyss and the chanted mantra 'next year'.

I feel for you WarOne. I've only had to live through one horrid year with the Avalanche in 08-09. I don't know if I could deal with years of it. No high draft picks when you end up in 10th or 11th place either.

At least with the Islanders they have been kinda relevant for a few seasons back in the mid 2000's.
Now my Knicks:
Has been a litany of poor performance, scandal, stupidity, and retardation that I don't know where to begin. In fact, I dare ANYONE to find a team worse than the Knicks. Keep in mind:
The Knicks have set record lows for their franchise. They have one of the lowest aggregate win totals of all NBA teams over the last DECADE and one of the few teams to not post a playoff appearance in the last 6.
They had Stephan Marbury, who in his infinite glory...
Declared himself the best point guard in the NBA at the pinnacle of a team high in wins. Then the Knicks played themselves out of the playoff race from that point on.
Forced NBA Championship winning coach Larry Brown to leave the team after ONE YEAR of a 50 million dollar, multi-year contract. Brown would collect a huge chunk of that money via arbitration.
Not satisfied with destroying one coach, Marbury again feuded again...this time with Isiah Thomas who became coach after his decisions as president of basketball operations landed Marbury in NY. They had a hissy fit after Isiah attempted to bench Marbury. Marbury's reinsertion into the line-up went against the REST OF THE KNICKS TEAM, destroying Isiah's credibility once and for all.
Oh yeah, Marbury testifying in defense of his coach, admitted that the Knicks fostered a hostile work environment for women by opening admitting cheating on his wife by having sex with an intern in his pick up truck. Oh yes, Marbury also happens to be a father as well.
Marbury also publically announced his intent to play in Italy after his career in NY. He ended up in China.
Thank god.
And that concludes ONE aspect of the Knicks and the failures they have become. If you want more, stayed tuned.
