The pool’s surface silently surged and flowed. A loom whose liquid threads forever vexed the Eldar who sat sculpting runes on its bank. Farseer Bal’Sa, “Would that we not need to commit lives to save them”

“It is only your Mysticisms that suggest they would be in such danger.” The Autarch’s commanding voice compelled the psyker’s attention and no amount of contempt. “The conclave on Talla Prime is in no more danger however these lesser creatures fare.”

The north end of the pool bucked, sending a wave shifting the surface of the psycho-reactive liquid.

“Tell me, Autarch, what is your take on the Tau’s offensive in this sector, tell me of Kyree Five.” Dry and patient eyes glided across the surface of the pool to meet the twin stars of the Autarch’s. Liquid sigils washed to the surface and congealed into the indiscernible waves.

A slender hand waved, almost batting the request away as though it were a fly. “The Young Ones fare well. The indigenous garrison was a bloated carcass to begin with. So easy the campaign is going, I’m sure the Tau response to the Human counter-offensive will be crushing.” As he spoke the Autarch’s gaze moved over the mystic’s pond, a seer’s toy, it bubbled twice. “The three, all too expected companies of Space Marine from this battle barge, the Incandescent Hymn will be repulsed. And you are asking us to disrupt the Tau to give these Usurper Fanatics a fighting chance?” Bony finger matched tongue to emphasize the Autarch’s frustration.

The Autarch’s strong conviction stirred the pool violently, Bal’sa knew the pool would be too riled to use for hours. I must keep this barbarian away from my own chambers the Farseer mused as he rose. “The Tau must b stopped or stopped here, or the Talla conclave will burn.” Images –struggle, torture, execution- played on the pool’s surface; a silent opera indiscernible from the surface’s other disturbances.”

“Tau, Empire, Orks, they are all the same. All blind to the conclave’s presence.”

“When an Ork finds a corpse, he grows bored and runs forward seeking more death, when a Man finds it he feels strong and rejoices in his own life, but a Tau, he will hide. He will watch that corpse waiting to finds its killer. This young Race hides itself in philosophy and civility. They are born hunters and killers, more dangerous than any Ork.”

The Autarch’s imprint in the pool stilled for three Eldar heartbeats. “But you would risk my soldier’s, your people, to save a conclave of four dozen? Or is it to save your grandson’s son?”

The pool went flat, gentle ripples of a whole craftworld of Eldar, broad ribbon-like waves of the Warp’s movement, and even the Autarch’s erratic pulse had all been overpowered.

“I am Farseer, Shepard and guide of my people, of our people.” The bank sloshed with movement once again and the Autarch, himself, imperceptibly released his breath. “The Conclave on Talla Prime are our people. They must be protected. Now if we are to question motives,” Bal’sa turned and narrowed his eyes dead even with his foe and general, “perhaps your cowardice might be explained: The Beast called out this morning; the Blood-Handed Statue named someone, your daughter.”

Instantly the water withdrew several feet from the bank. Its surface bristled with malicious spines.

“Were you of any other race I would toss you to the Warp myself.” The battle raiment gently glided behind the Autarch, “I will ready my ship.”

*So my brother asked me to set up a Tau v. Eldar mission for today. Anyway I couldn't sleep last night until 3am so instead I wrote. Hope it was enjoyable or something. I need to go make a army list and gather my minis*

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
