I have a quick question about the blood angles. Can you get a unit of 10 death company without jump packs and then get a transport and then add jump packs?

No, they have to be given jump packs before the game begins, during army list construction. You can't write/type on your army list 10 Death Company Marines w/ a dedicated transport and then add under that Then they are upgraded to have Jump Packs.

Bottom Line, NO Jump Packs inside transports.

2,500pts Hive Fleet Goliath - Tyranids --- W-10 . . D-4 . . L-5
2,000pts Empire of Quatar - Tomb Kings W-3 . . D-1 . . L-6
1,000pts Angry Marines - Blood Angels --- W-1 . . D-0 . . L-0
They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them, and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear.

Well, except for the one transport capable vehicle that the Blood Angels have that has specific rules for jump pack wearing models and how many models they count for (and disembarking rules)

You can kit them with jump packs & fly them in a Storm Raven though. Just thought I'd throw that out there for ya. Kind of expensive but definitely doable for sure.

As the others have said, no. You can give them jump packs and buy them a rhino sure, but you cannot ride in it.

It kinda sounds like this is what the OP was getting at. Can his jump-pack DC buy a Rhino even though they have no intention/capability of riding in it? Not sure what the wording of the codex is, but since you don't have to deploy in your dedicated transport (or ever even get in it for that matter), I guess they could take one and some other eligible unit could run around in it after deployment...

The wording in the codex is that they cannot even get into the transport showroom with jump packs. That means no dedicated transports for JP equipped DC. You can't drop the packs outside, but a rhino and then pick them up again on the way out! If that is the case, I'd like a drop pod and a razorback for my squad please!

You don't need to be able to fit in a transport to buy one anymore.

Yes just to clarify the wording states "If the squad does not have jump packs, it can select any dedicated transport" thus if you pick jump packs you do not even get the option of buying a dedicated transport.

To the OP, there is no stages of building your list. It is all done at once so the moment you chose to pick jump packs the dedicated transport option becomes illegal.

True, but you can buy a transport if, say, you take 30 of them, even though they cannot fit into it.

Correct but that was not the OP's question. making sure no one gets confused on the issue.

Hey Gwar!

NEVERMIND... I got ghosted... I say, if you have a squad of 30 without packs and buy them a Land Raider Crusader, just let the other drooling idiots, I mean venerated DC, ride on the roof!

It isn't a question of fitting. The exact wording that I paraphrased is "If the squad does not have jump packs, it can then select any dedicated transport (see page 90)." It has nothing to do with fitting. It has everything to do with jump packs means no dedicated transport.
