After realising that turning on notifications for all messages is not a good idea, I noticed that it doesn't tell you who posted the message. (Until it's quoted that is)
Is this something I can change, or is it on purpose, or something?
Kind of on purpose. Email stuff is a pain to administrate so I dont try to make it too useful. It goes down from time to time and so I dont want people to rely on it.
