This topic has come up several times and I'm curious what you'all think. The question is: the Skaven rulebook states that all Plague Censer bearers in BSB contact with an enemy unit, as well as those touching those in BSB, have to test for their censers (needing a 6 to die). Got it. I've heard several players argue that you should roll seperately for those who are in combat, and those who are not in BSB. I guess the point to it is that if your guys in BSB pass the tests, they will all be able to attack while if you lose some guys who are not in BSB, it won't affect the number of attacks in the combat.
The flip side of the argument is that people argue that you should roll them all together and any casualties should reduce the number of censer bearers who can participate in the combat.
I can see both sides to the argument - censer bearers are pretty gross enough, but think that if you seperate them out, it will make them a WHOLE lot better. You'alls thoughts?

I would go with rolling separately. This seems to be the best way to follow all rules involved. Only those in BtB get to fight and that is determined at the start of combat. Any casualties that are suffered are removed from where they stand and any that have been removed from BtB no longer get to fight. Any that are removed from the rear ranks count towards combat res but otherwise have no impact on the combat it self.

The convention of removing models from the back ranks is simply explained as being neat with the combat as models move up to fill in for those that have fallen.

You have to roll seperately, as it makes a difference.

You are only given permission to "fast roll" where combining the rolls makes no difference.

For my censer bearers I roll seperately.

1 color dice for base contact with opponent, 1 set of dice for non base contact with opponent, but in base contact with my own censer bearers. If you roll all together, there leaves a grey area of what gets to attack. Not fair to either player.

Don't have the book with me, but the old Skaven book said that wounds caused by the Censer fog counted both to CR and who could attack back. I'm assuming they changed it (along with which CB need to roll), so as long as I'm right on this, yeah, it should be separate.
