Its taken me two days to do this guy. i have one other unpainted assault marine. the other three are in Ultramarine liveries so i will need to remove the paint (any one know how?)
p.s when i made these guys like 3 years ago a didnt really file down any excess bits, hence the raised 'top bit' on the jump pack, and a bit of sprue stuff at the bottom of the jump pack, along with some bits on the shoulder pads.

i need to finish on the shoulder pad painting and the rest of the highlighting on the legs.

Looks like a good start - you should thin your paints though. The green looks a little gloopy. This can be as simple as just adding a few drops of water to the paint bottle and shaking it up for a minute. Next up, I'd work on a basing scheme, and paint him up some friends!

do you know what i can do to the gloopy paint already on the model. the basing is sorted out but i will do it last: some black gravel highlighted grey, with snow on-top and bits of mud. i find painting the same type of model afterwards gets me bored, so i normally do 1 model type after another. i am nearly finished on one of my scout squads so i will release pics of them soon.

do you think i should add some battle-damage and gore to him? above his left knee there is a nice little hole which could be a las shot. that was actually accidental. he had a meltabomb there and when i found out DA AM only get 1 meltabomb (for the vet sgt) i took it off. looks good though (you can't actually see it from the picture angles though )

Nice model. Is the chapter symbol free hand? If so, respect, sir

I can't think of much to really do about the already gloopy paint aside from stripping the model. However, if you had a 10 man squad, it's safe to say Pvt. Gloop would be the first casualty! I would also try to base the model when you paint it initially - I'm guessing you spray painted this Marine black, which means that you could have glued some gravel down and spraypainted that black at the same time. It's a little difficult to get good coverage over gravel with a paintbrush, which is why it's better to drybrush it after spray painting it black.

As for battle damage, I don't think that's a good idea. 9 times out of 10 it comes off as tacky and busy, and seldom looks good.

yarp. i find transfers a complete pain in the backside. they give off a shine and if you paint over it all you think is "what was the point in putting it on in the first place!", and if you want the shine taken away without paint you have to buy some other stuff. waste of money i find. although harder stuff i will need transfers for reference
