Hi all,

Im sure i posted ages ago that i was planning a DKOK army, well, ive finally started. I picked up the IG dex, along with the Vrax book with the DKOK list in, and havecome up with the following for my first army list.

This isnt my definate final version, and will no doubt have a lot of tweaking done to it. Basically, im trying to follow the 'fluff' as best as possible, but want an army that im happy with too, such is the list that ive made so far.

Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome:

HQ:

CCS - 150pts - Company Commander, Refractor Field, Plasma istol, Power Weapon, Master Vox, Regimental Standard, Master Ordanance, Officer of the Fleet.

ELITE:

3x Thudd Guns ( quad launchers ) - 210 pts
3x Thudd Guns ( quad launchers ) - 210 pts

TROOPS:

Platoon 1 - 2x Inf Squads with Lascannons, Chimera, Flamers, Voxcasters, 1x Heavy Weapons team with Mortars, Platoon Command, Melatgun, Plasma gun, vox caster. - 325pts.

Platoon 2 - 2x Inf Squads with Lascannons, Chimera, Flamers, Voxcasters, 1x Heavy Weapons team with Mortars, Platoon Command, Melatgun, Plasma gun, vox caster. - 325pts.

FAST ATTACK:

Hellhound Squadron - 290 pts - Devil Dog, Multi Melta, 2x BAnewolfs with Heavy Flamers, smoke launchers.

HEAVY SUPPORT:

3x Griffons - 225 pts.
Vanquisher - 250 pts - Pask.

As you can see i havent given many upgrades, i have 60 pts left at the moment for any goodies.

If anyone has any usefull hints/help to offer, do let me know!

Cheers guys!

This is out of my personal opinion and play testing but Pask is a waste get rid of him and the vanquisher then put two demolishers in the the picture. Also i find that the hellhound can work better than the devil dog with its longer range. Also what makes sense is when your running a mech army your orders are very limited due to the fact that they are in vehicles so I would say get rid of the voxs. Your squads are tooled out for any possible situation which isn't correct then they won't be able to excel in any situation so they will still get slaughtered. Death Korps and any IG army try to specialize in one area if they take a long range weapon you don't want to put a template weapon in the squad also because you won't be able to use it until it gets close. If your going to use heavy weapons you want to use vets so the BS is decent. At least in what i read Death Korps more rely on the Commisar so if you want fluff but a decent army you should really use him make some blob squads with PF and some tanks like demolishers and hydras and just run straight at the opposing army. The only thing I don't know are the thudd guns i've never seen those in the IG codex maybe I am just missing something.

I see what your saying, thank oyu for your input.

I took the Banewolves because theyre just as good as LRC with the poison flamers.

Thudd guns are heavy 4 ordanance blast, st5 ap5. I worked out that per turn i had 35 blast templates coming down on my enemy.

Im toying with thte idea of losing the hellhounds, and taking more tanks, though im not sure which.,

Are the thud guns in the dex? or is it like a forge world type thing.

i remeber thud guns in 2nd edition but that was a long time ago.

personally I would go with a squad of heavy morters instead of two thud guns the special ammo may prove useful especially the fire one
also I would loose pask you could use the pionts for other things such as taking madusas they are great for everything killing tanks termis carnifexes you name it they can kill it.

I was going to take Medusa's before i decided on Griffons, because of the points value. The thing is with pask and the vanquisher, is that i need a tank buster. My tropps wont do it, theyre around for taking objectives, the tanks and artillery are doing the killing.

What if i cut down my platton infantry, and took points from there?

cutting down on the infantry would do it mybe take vets in chimera with alot of meltas that would give you a couple of squads that can toast tanks that should give you the extra mobility too to hop to the objectives and if they have to waste a lascannon on your troops then they are not shooting at you big tanks.

I'll take a look at taking Vets, i never thought of them to be honest!

I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow with a new list!

Thanks for the input guys!

Okey dokey, ive come up with a 2nd list, taking in options and advice, and have come up with the following:

HQ:

Company Command 140pts -

Senior Officer, Commisar, Melta gun, power weapons, refractor field.

ELITES:

3x Thudd Guns - 210 pts.
3x Heavy Mortars - 210 pts - Infernus shells

TROOPS:

Platoon 1 - 226 pts - Chimera, PCS, Melta gun, Power weapon, 10 man squad with flamer.

Platoon 2 - 226 pts - Chimera, PCS, Melta gun, Power weapon, 10 man squad with flamer.

FAST ATTACK:

Hellhound Squadron - 380 pts - 2x Banewolves, 1x Devil Dog

Death Rider Squad - 86 pts - Hunting Lances, Power weapon, Vet Ridemaster

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Ordenance Battery - 2x Griffons, Medusa with BB shells.
Vanquisher - 155 pts.

This list leaves me with 77pts, which im not sure what to do with.

Im also not happy with the lack of tanks lol.

This army list is harder to do than i thought!

no i totally agree keep the banewolves but i'm saying get rid of the devil dog for a hell hound. And I don't know what your talking about lack of tanks you have more than enough here its just your mix of tanks a vanquisher by itself with a bs3 isn't consistent and will be targed and destroyed rather quickly. Go for some demolishers personally i believe they are the best option for any IG commander and should always be taken.
