I was playing my friend who has necrons yesterday. He says that the nightbringer is immune to ID. But when I looked in the codex it only said something about the ID from a wraithcannon. Does this mean that he is immune to ID from everything or just Wraithcannons? I was wondering if things like Gift of Chaos or a Slaanesh Daemon weapon could kill him? Thanks alot! Rod

Just immune to the Wraithcannons.

Thats exactly what I said, but he gave me the whole "trust me its everything." I personally thought it was it was just like you said.

He is granted a specific immunity to the Wraithcannon, and to C'tan phase weapons. No mention is made of him being immune to ID from other sources, so it applies as normal.

When people ask you to trust them, they usually (though not always) have something to hide. Honest people will show you the rules so that you can double-check them.

Well he's also immune to the C'tan Phase Weapons that insaniak pointed out above, but yeah, next time inform him it is only those specific weapons. Daemon Weapons, Psyker Abilities, Force Weapons and anything else that causes instant death still applies

As an honest Necron player, I'm continually shocked at how many of my opponents assume that The Deceiver (and Nightbringer) is immune to Instant Death. I suspect that there are many Necron players perpetuating these rumors.

Do your part and don't let rumors like this spread!

I myself am certainly baffled at how many people see "immune to instant death FROM WRAITH CANNONS" and automatically think 'oh he has eternal warrior!' Either people can be that stupid in reading or they just like to cheat.

It's kind of funny though that it's so easy to kill a "god" as there are any number of wasy to ID a model (force weapon, etc.)

Prob just thinking of it from a fluff standpoint, nothing says eternal warrior like a god lol.

Another reason the Necron codex is showing it's age. At the time it was written, aside force weapons only wraith cannons could instant death anything. And that one chaos demon weapon slaanesh had where you always got your armor save, even when a demon prince used it.

And knowing GW with their trend of 'OH LOOK HOW AWESOME THIS IS!' they'll slap instant death on every C'tan based attack, even going as far as ignoring eternal warrior. Quote me now I'm telling you that is the kind of bizarre crap we'll see if they don't get shifted to apoc.

You're not killing a god. You're destroying the physical shell in which they have currently manifested.

And it's not exactly easy... very few models with FWs will have enough Strength to even wound that shell in the first place, for example.

Alex, if you read the 5th edition rules, you will find that other things inflict Instant Death now than just weapons double the strength of the target's toughness.

I have been informed today that a psychic test that would insta kill the C'tan can be avoided with a toughness test being new to the game how true is this?

In reply to YOUR question, Gift of Chaos, the Chaos Daemons power and Chaos Space Marines psychic power, requires FIRST a psychic test to trigger, and THEN the target model makes a Toughness test; if it fails the Toughness test, it is turned into a Spawn.
