So yea, I noticed there are quite some people around here that have enjoyed these, and just wanted to see some opinions of you people like...favorite book, and just stuff you like (and dislike) about them.
My favorite has to be The Fall of Reach. Loved how they explained the whole Spartan II project and how the kids were subjected to all kinds of stuff.
And the 30megaton surprise makes me grin every time i read it...
The flood is the worst book though.... don't think I've even managed to finish it yet.
Cole protocol was fun, Ghost's of Onyx was awesome, with the Spartan III's.
Oh and please, Halo haters, don't start flaming this thread up because you want to be one of the cool kids.

I quite liked The Fall of Reach, and the Contact:Harvest was ok (took me a while to figure out which creature was which - had to borrow a mate's H2 "strategy guide" which gave the details.)
I likes me some military SF though.

Well you should read the rest of it, because..
read on page 219, every time i read it it suprises me,
And to know how close John (117) came to dieing read 323.
It may not be the best in the series but it is worth reading.

The Flood isn't poorly written, but the author didn't have enough to work with. It ended up being a narrative of the game.
I liked the chapters about the ODSTs and Marines though. Those were great.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

"The Flood" is the Halo novel series' very own "Warrior Coven".
Dietz is terrible, and there's so much more that could've been done with the novel.

I just bought the Box set today and am up to about page 75 in Contact Harvest.
All I can say is is that I was amazed Mathew Reilly didn't write it.

If he had, Scarecrow would've soooo kicked the chief's arse.
Scarecrow is just so baaaaad.

"The chief" in that case being Master Sgt Badass.
Scarecrow is like that. Like Chuck Norris (meme) only better.
It's impossible to take Matthew Reilly's books seriously. He doesn't.
