Hello everyone!
I'm new to the fourms, and new to warhammer. I was wondering where some good places in SF/Bay Area are to go and learn to play? and if there is any specific place that teaches people how to play? I have been looking online at some tutorials and things but I think it would be much easier to learn while playing and if I had someone there to help. Thanks alot!!

There are several GW stores in the Bay Area all which will be more than happy to show you how to play, and then sell you everything you need (GW is in San Jose, Pleasanton, and Union City).

In the South Bay Games Kastle is an excellent store, and I am sure someone on 40k night would be willing to go through an intro game with you.

Well I go to GW empire in Antioch quite often and the manager there is really nice and has created a great atmosphere for playing. There is also a GW alamo in Alamo which is pretty big but is usually hella crowded. I'd be glad to teach you the game, at either location, just send me a PM. And If there are any armies you would like to try out I can lend them to you, so that you can try em before you buy them, only ones I'm missing are SoB and DE.

Check out Gamescape at 333 Divisadero in SF. They have weekly 40k on Fridays. And if you're further south, I'll second theHandofGork's recommendation for Game Kastle.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

If your looking to play you can usually ask one of the employees for a "teach game" which is just a small game that they can teach you the basic ropes of 40K.

If you are near the BART there is both End game in Oakland (2 blocks from the 12th and Broadway BART station) which plays on Saturday during the day and Tuesday in the evening and Games of Berkeley in Berkeley (right next to the Downtown Berkeley BART) which plays on Sundays during the day to the late evening (there have been people starting games as late as midnight on some evenings) both of which have a fun group of people who will gladly teach you how to play and get you involved in the game. also for casual games you do not need everything painted.

Hello Jowdy,

I myself am also new to the wh40k universe and have just finished my army. I was just wondering, what army are you planning to run? Do you have ideas? I did a learn to play session and found it very valuable. Please PM me because I go to Games Kastle Santa Clara every Saturday and sometimes on Sundays. It would be cool to play.

For anyone, PM me if you are around for games at Games Kastle Santa Clara. I would love to get some more experience under my belt. Just PM me.
