When his ability goes off does it effect my units as well? Can I put him close to a brood of guants and suck thier souls? Or a brood of regenerating carnifexen?

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.
Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole |

It depends on what ability you mean:
Cataclysm is a Large blast, so yes it affects all units, like any other template or blast weapons.
I wouldnt put a large blast S6-10, AP1 on my Carnifex, even if it has regen...
Spirit leech specifies that it only affects enemys.
Absorb life only specifies unsaved wounds so it should include friendly wounds aswell.
I am not sure that you are allowed to target own units though, if it scatter into friendly units its ok.
To be honest I have never thought of target my own units, I am sure the BRB says something about targeting own units.

I meant the Absorb life Ability sorry :(. The plan is to have a tervagon make a new brood of guants, who then die to the doom to give him more wounds/Str. Kinda like how a Mek with a SAG uses snotlings.
