Just a really simple question:

Can Orc and Goblin shamans cast magic during cc? Does it depend on the spell being cast?

Yes, as far as I know they can cast just like other Wizards.

Fantastic. I was just wondering about that for my list, which pretty much requires one of my orc shamans to be in combat.

Just make sure you know the rules for casting in combat.

LoS is basically shot, right? I have read the rulebook cover to cover and I may have missed something else. Enlighten me if I have missed anything major, please!

Pretty much. Any magic missiles are basically kaput once you're in combat. Furthermore, unless a spell explicitly mentions that you can cast into combat, you cannot cast spells into units in combat.

Also bear in mind that you can't target a unit that is in combat unless the spell specifically allows you to do so.

Unless the spell effects your own unit, in which case you can cast while in combat. E.G. Flaming sword can be cast while in combat, as long as it is your unit it is being cast on.
