just getting ready for a tournament, after coming back from not playing for quite a few years. Reworking my dark eldar to make them completive again tell me what you think

idea would be rush forward and pin and shoot and use the wyches where they will live the longest
lord held in reserve and come on to counter anything pushing to far into my side of the board.

The night shields on the wych squad raiders are unneccessary, as are the ones on the raider squads. The only vehicles that should have this imo is your lords, and the ravagers. I dont particularly like splinter cannons, but if it works for you go with it, playtest it a bit with using dark lances and see how it works either way. I'd say put in a RJB squad with succubus with agoniser, or punisher/tormentor helm, and add in some blasters. Its a rough to deal with unit, and even more so if you use double dracon. Personally i say go with double dracons with the jetbikes, drugs, and punisher/tormentor. also if your set on the footslogging squads i say drop the blasters, as DE warrior squads are usually played as homefield objective holders, as such they probably wont get close enough for the blasters to be used. I love the dissie ravagers, so nothing to complain there.

btw i'd advise if your going with the RJB archon, put in a squad or RJB's with the same composition mentioned above. also here is my 2k list below, see if you like it (though you'll have to see what you would drop to take it down to 1750)

What purpose does this unit serve? His jetbike means he is going to take a str 6+ shot to the face and die instantly, also not being able to assult ruins really sucks too. Finally he doesn't even have a PW. Scrap him.

I have not run the points but if it is 5 normal wyches and 1 Succ your setup is perfect. If not make the model count total 6. After that drop the night shields and add a horrorfex. Nightshields are useless on boats you plan to advance with, and horrorfex can singlehandedly win you the game against certain armies.

Again since you seem to favor a more assault oriented list N.shields are a huge waste of points (120pt so far!)

Sniper squads are good. Sybarite in one is bad. First off Nightmare doll does not work in 5th ed. I know it sucks but that is how it is INATFAQed, second why would you not add the Syb to an assault unit on the off chance he does not die to the doll. Final suggestion, drop syb and maybe the blasters if you need points.

Great choice, but in the current meta-game the huge amount of missiles and 48" anti-transport shots I would still drop the n.shields. But if you like them this is the only acceptable unit for them in your list.

As you can see the cuts I suggested netted you an extra wyche squad, and a more focused HQ. As well as some game winning wargear (Crusible, and Horrorfexs)

If you have the extra raiders I would drop the trophy racks, vex, and sniper squads and create 2 more raider units with 1X DL and use them as meat shields for your ravagers while hunting tanks.

I'll open with a general note that you should probably listen to Clthomps as usually I find he and I are very much on the same page (with certain 4-legged exceptions of course) and a lot of what he said I would echo. I will say that I am a bit more forgiving of N.Shields as a conceptual choice though I personally agree with Clthomps' stated issues with them and don't run them myself. Still, they can be good even with a short game style list like what you are running. I will include my thoughts where they differ or are in addition to Clthomps' commentary.

A big risk in my mind. I'm personally not a big fan of using reserves, but at least this threat might keep your opponent a touch honest when he comes after your snipers. I question whether that is worth a 172 point investment, however. I'd rather play rearguard via having my boys in Raiders and moving them away rather then hoping for a handy reserve roll.

I like your Wych Squads - very similar to what I currently run. You mentioned that you're sort of coming back from a long absence and I'd just like to make sure you're aware that Wyches are more of a tarpit/grind down unit now rather then an assaulting wave of ultimate death.

I like this build though I usually prefer 6 to a boat. Playing Gunboats has shifted somewhat due to you now only being able to move 6" and still shoot. You'll find that this forces you to adjust your old strategies a fair bit. Raiders are also generally more fragile on the whole then they used to be. You'll want to work hard to control lanes of fire and restrict what your opponent may or may not get to.

I generally like the sniper squads though I usually like to pay the additional 5 points to get a mini sniper Raider squad because I feel mobility is such a key component of the new 5th edition paradigm. It will probably take you a few games to assess your own feelings on this one, but it's something to keep in mind.

Clearly Clthomps missed this. If this option is allowed I do agree with him that you might as well have the Sybarite in with a Raider squad where his attacks might actually come into play as a helpful force later in the game. He's going to do little more then look snazzy in his plumed helmet with the sniper squads.
