I am looking to buy some craters to add to my scenery collection. I would like to avoid GW ones as they seem to be of poor quality. Does anyone know of other stores that sell craters? I haven't been able to find any with google. Thanks.

If you don't mind a bit of work then Amera are an excellent source of terrain. If memory serves me correctly they did a range of craters.
Its vacuum form plastic which is both light weight and durable although it does mean you will need flock and paint it yourself. Personally I think it better as you can easily match it to whatever terrain you like.

ahh but amera quality isnt very high compared to GW. The GW ones are pretty nice tbh, but amera ones arent brilliantly textured IMO.

If you have some time, you can also easily build them following these instructions:
http://www.miniaturescenery.com/PaintingCrater.asp
They seem easy enough and good looking at the end of the process.

@ghosty, I agree the quality of texture isn't as high as some other modellers but when you can get 3 craters for £3 I don't think you can really expect it to be, I take your point though.
Amera isn't a finished product but for me therein lies its appeal, the product is easily finished to whatever style you desire. Finished product don't offer such a choice IMO, especially the pre-flocked ones. Automatically Appended Next Post: @gorium, awesome tutorial, thanks.

Pegasus Hobbies do some nice pre-painted craters now (in addition to the "Gothic Buildings" & "Gothic Ruins" and barricades and sandbags stuff.
About the same price as the GW ones (going off the ridiculously inflated Aus costs of EVERYTHING), but more solid (even if they are some kind of durable foamlike product).

There was another set I saw - basically the same - only already painted (but my local store only gets it sporadically and these sold before I could get back to get a better look.)
Yep. underneath that item on that page.
Cat # PEG 5215. 5214 is the unpainted ones. $4 more for the painted ones.

I should also add that there's a set of "Ruined Castle Turrets" that are fantastic to use as craters.
However, they apparently only come prepainted. The caveat?
The painting is actually to a fairly good standard. Was a pleasant surprise.
