Hello, I'd suggest that it might be worth you having a look through the articles and galleries. Is it Modelling or army advice you want ?

For the former have a nose around some of the articles http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Category:Tyranids_Tactica

and for modelling perhaps have a look through the gallery entries or some of the posts in the painting and modelling board.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Genesteallers with a Broodlord are nice, that Hypnonic Gaze thing the Broodlord has has saved my friend's Genesteallers from a bunch of stuff. Outflanking is nice as well. I suggest getting the Codex and looking through it and simply starting with the stuff you like, keeping in mind that Tyranids are way better at melee than shooting.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

well, i would start a tyranid army like i would start any army: get the models I like.

so maybe I would start with a tyrant, some hormogaunts, and a mawloc. Just because they would be fun to play a few games with, then you can slowly expand your army as your income comes in.

I started eldar the same way- a farseer, some guardians, and a wraithlord.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

The genestealers are just too good to pass up. The outflank move is killer.

Building them? Try painting them! Painting a Tyranid army takes a really long time. Even if you were to make a "big bugs" list with Warriors and Trygons and such, it's still a lot to paint.

Get the starter box. Build and paint that first. That will give ya a taste of what to come lol. Once you get a good grasp on the codex and abilites, buy the models that will suite your playstyle and theme. Will save ya alot of money and aggravation. You also could jump on ebay and try and snag a already built and painted army (should be overall cheaper). They are a complex army to build and paint. They are very impressive when the army is done though. I have seen a few fully painted armys.
